Network Solutions WordPress Hosting – 2.7.x Upgrade Workaround

We recently rolled out WordPress 2.7.0, which includes a signficantly improved interface and many useful features (kudos to the WordPress team for an outstanding release!). One great new feature in WordPress 2.7 is the ability to upgrade to newer versions of WordPress easily as they become available! When you log into your WordPress administration page and a new version is available, you are notified and given the choice to upgrade. All you need to do is put in your FTP settings, and WordPress does the rest for you. WordPress asks you for your Hostname, your Username, your Password and a Connection type.

Hostname: should be your blog domain name, however, there may be a system issue/bug right now that we are working on rectifying, so for now, put in “localhost” (without the quotes).

Username: should be your main FTP user name for your account and not your blog administrator name, you can find it in the “FTP & Content Publishing” section of your Network Solutions Account Manager.

Password: should be your main FTP password.

Connection type: Choose “FTP”.

Hope this helps!

Miguel

      Hi,
      Thanks for the information.
It's unclear to me where within the Admin area I put this information.
Can you please elaborate or provide screen shots?
      Thanks,
      Josh

Thank you! I logged a support case on this very question and got (4 days later) less than a acceptable response.

Apparently i have version 2.0 of WordPress on my ns server. How do i get the upgrade to the latest version that you mention above so it makes it easy to upgrade in the future? I don't see anything on the admin page that lets me upgrade easily.

Can you send me the information on how to upgrade WordPress 2.0 on our NS server to the latest version. I can't seem to find it anywhere. We have a large hosting package with multiple websites and I want to put a new blog on one of them with the latest version. I am suprised that the latest version isn't on there, as we are fairly new customers, new within the last 6 months. But when I installed wordpress from your Plesk, it put version 2.0 on there, and I can't do any fancy graphics with that.
      HELP!!
