Are you looking for a way to make your AdWords ads stand out?

Having the Google Checkout Badge displayed in your AdWords ads can bring needed attention to your ads as well as giving them an appearance of credibility. Ads that display the badge stand out much more than the rest of the text ads on the page. Being one of the only graphics on a Google® search results page causes the eye to really be drawn to the badge.

Regular Google Checkout users will also be assured to know that they can use Google Checkout to purchase from your store.

How to link your Google Checkout and AdWords accounts.

If you already have your AdWords ads up and running you can now go into the Google Checkout Merchant site and modify your Account Settings (Setting > AdWords) to link to your AdWords account.

You will be asked to add your AdWords CID and click the corresponding ‘Request Link’ button. Note: the AdWords CID can be found in the upper right corner of any AdWords page once you are logged in.

After entering the CID you should receive an email with a confirmation link.

I completed the steps above, why is my Google Checkout Badge still not showing?

At the top of the Settings > AdWords page you should see an indicator as to whether the accounts are linked or not.

Badge Status Indicator

After I had gone through the process I had an issue of my badge not being active or showing up in my ads. Apparently as part of the approval process you must have several real Google Checkout orders originating from the website listed as your Public Business URL. I don’t get a lot of orders regularly through Google Checkout. So, to complete the process, I ordered a small item from my own site four times. After ordering I noticed that my badge is now shown as active and the graphic is appearing in my ads.

The review process is not instantaneous, so remember to give it some time to take effect.
