I wanted to take this opportunity to welcome Shonali Burke to the Network Solutions Social Media Team as the new editor of Women Grow Business succeeding Jill Foster, the founding editor of Women Grow Business. According to Jill on the Women Grow Business site, “With an incredible track record in the world of integrated communications – plus a great attitude to match – Shonali Burke knows how to grow business and strong partnerships. And from the start, she’s been a Women Grow Business guest blogger and enthusiast. She’s demonstrated leadership and impact through a range of business communities.”
Shonali Knows Her Stuff
She was named in PR Week’s inaugural Top 40 Under 40 List.In 2008, she was one of three recipients of the acclaimed Golden Ruler Award from the Institute of Public Relations for excellence in research and measurement. And now in addition to serving her expanding client portfolio, Shonali teaches communications as Adjunct Faculty for Johns Hopkins University’s M.A. in Communications program.
Looking Back and Flashing Forward
I remember when I talked to Jill about starting this blog and we talked about how there were good and some great entrepreneurship/small business blogs out there but very few actually focus on women in business. More specifically, focused on female entrepreneurship and she was excited about the prospect. Over the course of 2009, Jill’s energy and enthusiasm to promote the blog, attract contributors and build an audience was non-stop. No wonder Jill was named one of the 2009 Tech Titans in the Washington Post.
We are blessed that Jill let us know of her departure to newer ventures early on and was very active to help us find a successor and detail out the transition plans. In many cases, people depart and leave a void making it hard to maintain the momentum in a blog. That is not who Jill is and her help to find and transition Shonali seamlessly is something I am grateful for and shows you Jill’s integrity.
Shonali takes the helm of Women Grow Business officially today
As Jill metioned in her post “she is regularly out and about on Twitter (@shonali) or at her blog Waxing Unlyrical. Her community involvement is found throughout the blogosphere like her Grow Smart Biz coverage or her support for the recent Blogpotomac Unconference. So look out 2010, a new awesome partnership is underway! I can’t wait to see what’s next.”
Jill and Shonali, we can’t either.
