Update 4/22/2010 12:36 PM: Some customers are still reporting latency connecting to their websites using FTP. We are experiencing some network issues. We’re very sorry about the inconvenience this is causing. Our network team is working on this and we hope to have this issue resolved as quickly as possible. Please check here for updates.

Apr 21, 2010 @ 18:00 We are making changes to our system and reinforcing measures to protect your hosting account.  As a result, you may experience some issues with FTP access on Network Solutions hosting from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. ET, today April 21, 2010. This will only affect you if you are updating content or transferring files to your website during this time. Your site should still be available to visitors on the web.  If you work with a web designer or developer on your website, please make sure they are aware of this maintenance.

We acknowledge some customers experienced  FTP issues intermittently today. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please check back here  for further updates.

It's difficult enough maintaining visitors, let alone unscheduled interruptions.

Good… been having nothing but problems with Website Builder this week and images not showing up properly. Plus cannot make any adjustments in IE – have to use Firefox.

Glad it was not me. I thought I was going insane for a moment.

    • jtucker

Is this related to my site being reported by google as infected with malware?

    • http://www.njnvideo.com Stephen Pate

I was on NJN Video, which has been down since last night, a few minutes ago to change passwords etc. On a whim I tried to check my awstats. The page is infected with grep http://02ea83d.netsolhost.com/awstats/?x=60&y=9

The support ticket was closed again despite the fact my page is still a mess. The grep virus is still on my page.

I'd send you the screen shot but there is no attach feature. There is also no place to login on this page so I'm posting as a guest.

I updated a page on my site today and it took 20 times and still only 3 out of 35 images show up for the page.
Will I have to reload the page again or will it fix itself later tonight??

Well, this is good to know; but I've had an FTP issue since about 10:30 a.m. EDT on April 21. Thanks for the updates.

    • WN

it was not functioning correctly at 5 pm – went in dashboard, checking password info – trying to figure out what was going on – !

I wish I knew. At about 7:00 PM I decided to update a page on my website using Adobe Contribute. I had no trouble downloading the page and editing it. When I tried to upload it, I received an “ACCESS IS FORBIDEN” message. I panicked. I also found that I could not access that page from a browser. It means that it ws removed from the site.

I hope that I will be able to upload it after 9:30 tonoght

    • Peter

This is affecting more then just FTP transfers as the image files on my website are not viewable (getting 403 ACCESS FORBIDDEN error message). I thought this was supposed to be resolved by 9:30 PM EST? Would appreciate an estimate of how much longer before this issue is resolved!

    • concernednshoster

      OK, update please…

    • Noah

We have had a problem with Google identifying our site as a spreader of malware. We know nothing about this, so we're wondering if our Network Solutions account security was comprimised.

    • http://www.calvertmma.com Jim

In the last 24hrs my website has been listed by Google as a “harmful site” with malicious code. I'm not getting any answers from Network Solutions customer reps. Is anyone else experiencing this problem? My gut feeling is Network Solution is covering up the fact that they've been hacked and that's why they are pushing out this “Unscheduled Hosting Security Update”.

whats the update now guys? =)

    • http://www.ryanbenoit.com Ryan Benoit

Any idea when we will be able to upload changes? I am still having FTP issues.

    • http://rodanmedia.net Danny Pryor

Finally. The FTP system for my servers seems to be online once again. All passwords have been reset, so if you have an old FTP password, even if you set it earlier today, it's been replaced. Log into your accounts to check your FTP passwords. You may have to actually use the FTP Upload Manager in your account before you can use your new FTP password in FileZilla, Smart FTP or WS FTP – or whatever program you use. Good luck all.

    • mybassethound

It is well past 9:30 EDT so why can't I connect to the FTP site????? 11:45pm

    • concernednshoster

Still waiting although the “news alert” was taken down as if it's complete. Still can't connect to FTP, still can't connect with the File Manager, still waiting…

    • Craig

I still can not upload 10:45 Pacifica Time

    • BJG

      Jim and others,
There was a rash of NS-hosted sites that were hacked – mostly thru the wordpress blogs. Mine had an iframe code reference inserted into the database (mysql) files. You should check your php files for iframe references. You can find a number of suggestions on how to fix it by Google searching on “WordPress iframe hack”

    • Ian Stewart

well, our website has been hacked again today!!!!! Totally unacceptable…..

    • tcdtech1

It is now the 22nd and FTP is still not working and I've checked here but there are no updates. You set the expectation to check here for updates.

    • Dave

So at this point, any one “using” Network Solutions for business or commerce are still down. Our website is down, no access to Files, no access to cPanel to see anything. We are paying for a serivce this week that has been non existent. The frustrating part is this has been going on for days and not hours. It is very concerning in regards to security, disaster preparedness, and lack of redundancy with the environment. Hard to believe such a large organization was so ill prepared.

    • Shawfield

It seems more like something was broken recently with the FTP logins and the downtime is to fix that issue?

    • http://www.weteachgolf.com Bruce Baird

My website has been intermittently down for more than 24 hours now, not just during the 6:30 to 9:30 ET time mentioned. My webmaster advises that your system is being hacked , not just my site. Where can I find the facts of the matter, and how it is being resolved.

    • jaygoldfarb

now entering third day without access to my ftp account. As a commercial printer, this is totally unacceptable. It may be time to look for a new hosting company since I get no help from Network Solutions.

    • http://www.studiob-ct.com Bea

I'm sure your techs are doing what they can, but today April 22 – 7:46 AM EST, I still don't have access to the sites I manage. How about an update?
      Thanks, B.

    • RHM

Unable to access using FTP this morning (22 April @ 8:00 a.m. ET) … Says Invalid password???

      What's Up?

    • Keli Ray

I experienced FTP issues ALL day, and have not been able to connect to my hosting server since yesterday 8am and am still not able to connect. I've tried calling 4 times now and have been put on hold for longer than 10 minutes. What's going on now?

    • rbshreve

We have been unable to access FTP for two days, and visitors to our site (celebratenj.org) are seeing a warning that the site is infected with “Liberty Exploit (type 714)” which was reported to NS support by phone ( 1hour wait) and email. We have also not been informed about the cause and your strategy for correcting this serious issue. This is completely unsatisfactory response.

We know NS has a security issue with UNIX its based servers because you have made unannounced changes in the FTP passwords on our other accounts twice in the last few months. The lack of communications is shamefully bad customer relations
