It’s the beginning of the .CO era! .CO is a new domain extension that offers a truly global recognizable and credible option for a Web address. The global launch of .CO will be divided into three phases: Sunrise, Landrush, and General Availability. The first phase, known as Sunrise was created for the pre-registration of domains in order to protect trademark holders and avoid abusive registrations.
During the Sunrise period holders of eligible registered trademarks have the right to apply for the .CO domain name corresponding with their trademark before the registration of domain names opens to the general public. By using this phased approach, abuse can be prevented.
Global Sunrise (April 26, 2010 – June 10, 2010)
Any holders of trademarks of national effect may apply, including Colombian trademark holders; however there will be no preference given to Colombian trademark holders during this phase.
Sunrise Fees
• Every application will be charged a one-time, non-refundable application fee of $240.00.
• If the there are multiple applications for the same name the domain will go into auction. The applicant will be responsible for bidding on the name and paying the applicable auction fees.
• If you are awarded the domain you will be charged the standard annual registration of $39.99.
The official start of the Global Sunrise period has commenced. To be eligible to participate in the Global Sunrise, the applicant must be the holder of a trademark that has obtained registered status in a country of the world on or before July 30, 2008 regardless of the applicant’s country of residence or incorporation.
Every applicant must submit full, detailed and accurate information in the pre-registration application below. If you participated in the Pre-Validation process you must use the Pre-Registration Validation Code (PVRC) you have already received directly from the IP Clearinghouse. Please read the .CO Launch & Registration Rules or the rules below before submitting a Sunrise pre-registration application to ensure eligibility and validation. Submissions are nonrefundable so please ensure that your information is complete and accurate. Carefully review your entry thoroughly before submitting.
