Using the Internent and their .com site www.pacificathleticalliance.com, the Pacific Island Athletic Alliance helps student athletes secure scholarships and financial aid for college. On the HowDoYou.com site, they shared their story:

In 2003, www.pacificathleticalliance.com, Pacific Islands Athletic Alliance (PIAA), a 501(c)3 non profit organization, was formed to help Hawaii and American Samoa athletes secure college placement. Being in the middle of the Pacific, the athletes have much less opportunity for exposure. Our staff of four is 100% volunteer. We work directly with the high school coaches, counselors and parents, for just a small one time $60 membership fee for the athlete; and 100% of the funding we receive goes directly to helping the students with SAT Workshops, clinics, combines, and assisting the athletes in marketing themselves to colleges nationwide. Our focus is academics and athletics.

Since 2003, PIAA has assisted in securing over $12M in athletic and academic scholarships, grants and financial aid for over 1000 Hawaii and American Samoa student athletes. Pacificathleticalliance.com is our base. Our athletes are featured on our .com and info is sent to colleges nationwide, from the biggest school, to the smallest schools to the top academic institutions. PIAA helps the athletes find the best fit for them athletically, academically, socially and financially. Six of the athletes we worked with are now in the NFL; 10 have gone on to the US Air Force or Naval Academies; at least 3 have earned their PhD; several are school teachers; a few are college coaches; many are in graduate school and medical or law school. 85% of the athletes PIAA works with live at or below the poverty level and may otherwise not have had the opportunity to go to college if it were not for athletics paying all or part of their tuition.

This opportunity is difficult to come by in the state of Hawaii simply due to the distance between Hawaii and the mainland USA. PIAA is woman owned and operated organization. Please vote for PIAA! Aloha & Mahalo!
