Final preparations are being made at ICANN to take applications for new generic top level domain name extensions (gTLDs). This means that businesses should begin now considering whether to apply for a domain name extension of their own such as .flowers, .shoes or .crafts or what to do to protect your brand when new gTLDs become available.
Next Wednesday, January 19th 2011, I will be a participant on a webinar panel that will be discussing what businesses and brand owners need to know about new gTLDs; how to apply, how to make use of the new gTLD extensions, and how to protect your company brand. Representatives from Yahoo!®, Microsoft®, and the Red Cross® will be joining me on the panel, hosted by Brian Winterfeldt, Partner at Steptoe & Johnson, LLC.
