On March 28th the Shenandoah University is having it’s 4th annual Harry F. Byrd, Jr. School of Business 2012 Business Symposium. The symposium is designed to “educate and inspire large and small businesses, service and non-profit organizations as well as business minded students and educators.” You can register here http://www.subusiness.org

I have the great honor  of participating in this  event on behalf of Web.com (Network Solutions parent company) as we are a great supporter of Small Business success. The panel is “New Technology for Small Business” moderated by Ramon Ray, Editor & Technology Evangelist, Smallbiztechnology.com.

Technology is a great way for a small business to become more productive, spread awareness and get  more customers using the power of online marketing. In today’s hyper-connected world, the internet is the way most people are getting their information. Having a presence on the internet through a website which should  be the center point  and build your social networks around it a must for every business. New technology and tools also make it easier to keep in touch with your existing customers. Word of mouth is fast becoming world of mouse as technology has made it easy for customers to share their opinion on a business online. I hope to discuss this and more at the conference.

The Shenandoah University 2012 Business Symposium agenda is very extensive and covers many important business topics including new media marketing, creating your vision, non-profits, entrepreneurship, transitioning from school to real life. The two keynotes are by Susan Solovic, CEO and Co-founder of ItsYourBiz.com  and J. Timothy Gannon, Co-founder of Outback Steakhouse, Director Emeritus of OSI Restaurant Partners, Inc.
