Percussionist Builds a Booming Business

Cary Nasatir has been teaching students of all ages and abilities to play music since 1965. His specialty: percussion instruments. In 1999, after 22 years of working for the same company, Nasatir decided it was time to strike out on his own. The Nasatir School of Percussion emerged as a studio in the lower portion of his home. Today, he has a five-pronged business focus: music lessons, consulting with schools, sheet music sales, percussion instrument sales and instrument repairs.

Challenge

From the beginning Nasatir has had a website (www.nsopdrums.com) to support his business. But having a Web presence hasn't been without its struggles. The company that initially hosted his website was sold twice. The second time it was acquired, they notified Nasatir that they were going to shut down the servers where his site resided. "The other company was making it so difficult for me to make a change," Nasatir said. "I just asked myself, 'Why am I putting up with this?'"

Solution

Nasatir did some research. "Network Solutions® had a 30-day trial on the Website Builder Tool. I decided to try and set it up. In an hour and a half I had the first page done. After a couple of hours I had five or six pages. It was that easy. There was no HTML," Nasatir said. "What the other company couldn't do for me, I did with Network Solutions®."
