Register a new domain name?
To register a new domain name, you start by entering the desired name in the search box on the Network Solutions homepage. You can enter multiple names by separating them with a comma. Results show up on the next page along with all the available extensions to register. If the name you searched for is not available, suggested alternative domain names will appear.
Once you have found a domain name you wish to register, simply select the name and then select the various extensions you wish to apply to that name before completing your order. Remember, each extension makes a different domain name and is considered an additional registration (e.g., janesbagels.com, janesbagles.org, and janesbagels.net would be three domain name registrations).
Register a domain name that is already taken?
There are a number of ways to register a currently registered domain name. With the help of Network Solutions, you can place a back order to get the domain name as soon as it becomes available. (If others have placed backorders for the same domain name, you will participate in a simple auction to buy the domain.) Other options include making a Certified Offer, where Network Solutions presents your offer anonymously to the seller, or setting up keywords on an alert list that notifies you as soon as the domain name is due to expire.
Protect the personal information I provide at domain name registration?
Domain name registrars such as Network Solutions are required by ICANN (the organization that oversees the domain name system) to add your contact information to a public, searchable database known as "WHOIS". You can, however, choose to keep your personal information hidden from view with our Private Registration service. This service, which lists Network Solutions contact information in place of your personal information in WHOIS, deters spammers, telemarketers, direct mailers, identity thieves, harassers, stalkers, and others who may choose to use the public WHOIS database to contact you.
Determine which extensions are right for me?
Network Solutions offers a variety of domain name extensions. The extensions list will show you all the extensions currently available and their most common usage. Choosing an extension is an important part of your Web site's branding as most Internet users consider the extension to be representative of the type of website. For example, .com was developed for commercial businesses and .org for non-profit or non-business organizations. But, in fact, any extension can be used for any purpose. The only exceptions are some of the country extensions, and the .mobi extension which is reserved for mobile websites.
Find out who registered a given domain name?
With WHOIS you can check to see who has registered any domain name. Network Solutions enhanced WHOIS database provides registration information on millions of domain names, regardless of where they are registered.
Protect my brand online?
You can protect your online business by registering for multiple extensions, including country-specific extensions, misspellings, abbreviations, and alternate names, to prevent unauthorized use of your trademarks, brands, and licensed names.
Redirect multiple domain names to one Web site?
Web Forwarding lets you drive all your traffic to your main Web site. You can register domain names for misspelled and/or abbreviated versions of your primary domain name, or register the same domain names with alternate extensions (e.g., .biz, .net, etc.). Then you can forward all those domain names to your primary Web site to help ensure that customers find your Web site.
Renew a domain name I've already registered?
To renew a domain name with Network Solutions, log in to Account Manager. You can also choose to "turn on" Auto Renew so your domain name registration will be renewed automatically prior to expiration. Auto Renew eliminates the worry of losing your domain name registration should you forget to manually log in and renew your registration service.
Transfer a domain name I've already registered?
Network Solutions makes it simple to transfer your domain name. Simply enter your existing domain name in the transfer box, and follow the transfer steps. You'll retain the time period left on you original registration term, and we'll add an additional year to your term at no charge.
