nsMarketing ™ Online Press Release – Understanding Your Results

Once you've approved the final content for your press release and viewed the official publication on PRWeb®, it is time to assess the reach and scope of your release as detailed in the Network Solutions® Press Release Statistics Report. This document is sent to you one week after your online press release is published and outlines the places where viewers can find your release, how many times the headline or the full article was viewed, and reveals the top performing key words.

Exactly one week after your optimized press release goes live on prweb.com, you will receive a statistics report from your Network Solutions® Press Release copywriter. This report may at first seem elusive and technical, but once you understand the information it contains, you will be able to more clearly see the reach of your release and evaluate its success as an online marketing tool.

You'll first notice a collection of links on your statistics report. These will take you to various news sites, namely, Yahoo!®, Google®, and MSN®. Through PRWeb's media outlets, your release was distributed to these top online news websites. Additionally, other lesser known news sites will have picked up your release. These can be seen with the final link to the search engine results page.

The next section details "Headline Impressions" and "Full Page Reads." A headline impression refers to any time your headline was displayed at any of the distribution points that are tracked by PRWeb®, including prweb.com and affiliated news feeds. A full page read refers to any time the full body of the release was displayed. Generally, this means that someone opened the release from another site to read or view the full text. The "Lifetime Activity" is the combined total of headline impressions and full page reads. The typical press release will see anywhere from 10,000 to 200,000 views in the first week; you're lifetime activity totals the exact minimum number of times viewers saw some part of your company name in one week.

The "Search Engine Statistics" section tells you how readers accessed your release, whether it was through prweb.com or through an affiliated link.

The last two sections of the statistics report indicate which countries across the globe accessed your release and which key words performed best in your optimized press release.

The statistics report is compiled and delivered one week after publication because this is typically when viewings of your release peak and begin to taper off. Remember, a news announcement has a limited shelf life. After one week, most announcements are considered dated.

As you can see, an optimized press release garners high exposure for your company, product or service. To keep the momentum building, you should consider publishing a series of optimized press releases highlighting current events going on with your company or in your industry. Whether you put out more press releases or not, your first press release will still be online and you will always have the permanent link from PRWeb®. The benefits of a permanent link are valuable, though difficult to measure.
