This is a fantastic point - I'm so glad you've taken the time to address "founderitis". It really can cause such damage to a company if it is not dealt with. I've been in a number of situations where I was under the leadership of individuals who have had a very strong hold on every aspect of the company. I must sadly admit that I too have seen evidences of some of these symptoms in my own leadership at times, but strive to ensure that I manage to maintain a loose hold, have an open-handed approach, if you will. An example of one of the situations that I found quite stretching was when we were developing an online print store with http://www.digitallizard.com/small-medium-busin... and I really didn't like the idea that all my employees had control over what was printed, without me necessarily being involved. I did manage to gain some perspective and have been able to realize that we would have been missing out on an awesome system if I had insisted on having control of everything.
