Oh no, you’re thinking, not another social media tool I have to know about! Well, yeah, but Amplify is a really good one to actually use. You know how you’re always being told you need to engage with your followers, fans/likes, connections, etc. via social media? Amplify actually focuses on the conversation aspect, making it easier to do as you’re told. To put it another way: You can get a conversation going on Twitter, but it’s really hard to maintain a meaningful discussion when you’re limited to 140 characters. On Amplify, you can have that conversation.
Amplify is not a social media dashboard, like Hootsuite, however. While it does allow you to quickly autopost information across a variety of social media platforms, you skip the middleman. (Instead, you use a bookmarklet downloaded to your browser.)
So, how can you use Amplify for content curation and thought leadership?
Content Curation
Amplify gives you a lot of control over the content you post: You do not need to share an entire article or blog post, for instance. You can just choose the few paragraphs that are most interesting and relevant for your audience. Copy and paste the paragraphs (or photos or sentences) into your Amplify page, give the info a title, add some thoughts on what you are sharing, and then autopost it (“it” being an “amp)”. This is a very unique, powerful feature, and a very good one to take advantage of, because good content curation leads to…
Thought Leadership
When you add your thoughts on the information you are sharing, you have the opportunity to be a thought leader. State why you think the article or blog post is right or wrong, what your—and your clients’—experience has been with x, how you think it could change the industry for better or worse, how it could affect your clients or certain industries, etc. Be bold to gain authority and to spark conversations.
Amplify is also a social media platform, so you can follow people you know, meet new people you should know, and talk to them about the topics you are all interested in. The more interesting and relevant your amps are, the more likely you are to be viewed as an important member in the community, the more people will follow you, and the more authority you will gain.
