7.8 Release Notes
The 7.8 Release, scheduled for the 22nd of October, 2009, contains a number of highly requested enhancements that helps store owners really take charge of the operation of their store. This release contains new functionality in the personalization questions management, allows warehouse based shipping rules, includes customer import capability, adds a new, versatile Message Center to the Admin panel, adds two new Payment Options (Pay.gov and eCheckit) as well as host of minor enhancements.
*The eCheckit Payment Gateway will be available on 10/27/09*
The 7.8 update is scheduled for Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 at 9pm CDT.
Master Personalization Questions
Master Personalization questions give greater flexibility to the personalization question templates. You now have the ability to create a Master Personalization template and Link many products to this template. Any time you change the master personalization template, any products that are linked to this template will change accordingly.

You can also Apply the template to a product, copying all of the personalization questions directly to the product. A product with applied templates will not change when the master personalization template changes.
Warehouse Base Shipping Rules
You can now choose when creating your warehouses to set them as shipping origins, which can improve the accuracy of your real time shipping rates when your store ships products from several locations for a single order. Drop shipping is a prime example of this type of scenario.

Customer Import - Premium Only
The Import/Export feature can now import and export Customer data as well. This allows easy import for customer lists to automatically create user accounts on the storefront. These imported customers can also be associated with existing customer groups during the import process.

New Message Center in the Control Panel
We've created a new message center in the Control Panel for collecting and displaying important Network Solutions updates, reminders, and notifications in a user-friendly format.

Located in the upper left corner of the Control Panel is your Inbox notification, which displays how many current and new messages you have. Click on the inbox to be taken to your Message Center.

Release notes, outage notifications, and more will all be displayed using this system. Super Admins will have the ability to control access to these messages. The Message Center replaces the Headline News and Control Panel News & Updates section.

Quantity Discounts on Variations
Driven by customer request, this feature allows clients who utilize variations to extend their quantity discounts to all the variations of a product. Now, when a customer gets 10% off for buying five shirts, they can get the discount for buying two blue and three green shirts if they are variations of the same shirt product.

Limited Use Coupons
You now have the ability to create special coupons that can be used by your customers for a set number of times. You control how many times the coupon can be used before it expires. This usage for the new coupon code is also displayed in a report.

You can enter the desired number of Coupon Codes available to your customers.

The Discount Code Report will display the total orders, total discount amount and total order amount for each discount code in a given date range.

New Payment Gateways: Pay.gov and eCheckit
We've expanded our extensive list of Payment Gateways to now include eCheckit* (which you can use to accept echecks) and Pay.gov for government-based organizations.

Shopping Cart Enhancements
We've revamped the shopping cart section of the Control Panel, allowing you to know the time, date, referring URL, and final step of their cart before they abandoned it. Turning an abandoned cart into and order can now be done in the Control Panel, and anytime a customer's email is displayed anywhere in the cart, you can quickly and easily contact that customer directly.

Timed Content/Microblogging
A new feature to the v7.x platform is Timed Content delivered and controlled from the Control Panel to the storefront. This feature gives you the ability to create content modules and place them in any content area of your site. These modules contain posts that can be set to publish and expire at certain dates, be active or inactive, and sorted based off of their publish date.

The Timed content can be placed in most Content Areas of your store, using the nsScript function.

Reporting Enhancement
The taxable Subtotal is now displayed on the tax report. Now the total taxes collected, the subtotal of taxable sales, and the orders total are all shown in the Tax Report.
