v7.9 Release Notes
Version 7.9.10 Release Notes
The nsCommerceSpace® v7.9.10 release will add new features, address bugs, and improve performance.
The v7.9.10 is scheduled to be released on June 19, 2012.
- Add-A-Store™ features now available
- Pinterest and Google+ now part of the AddThis Integration
- Country Code Sort Order fix
- Updated Setup Checklist
- New Template Available
- Public API Updates
- General Bug Fixes
Add-A-Store – This new feature is a whole new way to do Ecommerce. Our Add-A-Store feature allows merchants to place their products and shopping cart functions on an existing website. If you have a blog or other website you can place the Buy Now Buttons, Single Product Layouts, and the Shopping Carts right in the website. This allows a customer to begin the buying process form the 3rd party website.
Buy Now Buttons – Create a simple text based link, stylized CSS button, or use a graphic button and then you can create a product layout around the button. This is useful if you want full control over the look and feel of the product layout.

Single Product Layout – Similar to the Buy Now button, except that you can draw out the Product thumbnail image, Product Name, Short Description and Price. Simply select the layout, customize and the application draws it all out for you.

Floating Shopping Cart – Embed the shopping cart in your website and it will float at the top or bottom and can be aligned Left, Right or Center. This will allow a customer to add numerous products from your website prior to entering the checkout process. The Floating Cart also allows a user to insert a coupon, remove products, and update quantities from the shopping cart. Once the user is ready to checkout, they click the Checkout button and head to your existing checkout flow. Your secure checkout flow then takes over and processes the order.

Advanced Features of Add-A-Store – The Add-A-Store feature is powerful and uses much of the existing business logic to showcase your products. For example if a product goes out of stock and is set to be “unavailable for sale” we don’t render the product on the 3rd party website either. Basically if a product is not purchasable on your store, it won’t be made available on the other website.
Personalizations and Variations - If a user adds a product to their cart and that product has Personalization or Variation options we prompt a user in an overlay screen to make a selection. This allows for a clean interface and to ensure your customers properly configure a cart.

Updating a Buy Now Button or Single Product Layout – If you change your mind on a color, style or layout of a button or product layout, simply update it in your MCP and it will dynamically change any place you’ve pasted the product code.
Pasting Buy Now Buttons, Product Layouts, and Shopping Cart Code – When you place a product (via Buy Now Button or Single Product Layout) on your 3rd party site, a shopping cart is dynamically added for you. Now you don’t need to remember to add the shopping cart on every page you’ve placed a product, ensuring your users can always being the checkout process. You are also able to paste just the Shopping Cart code on a page or in a universal header, to display on every page of a site, regardless if it has a product embedded in it.
Floating Shopping Cart on your Store – While it wasn’t designed specifically for this purpose, the Floating Shopping Cart can be embedded into your existing Store. It allows for a different look and feel than the traditional embedded Shopping Cart, giving merchants a bit more flexibility. Simply copy the Shopping Cart Code in your Store’s Header HTML.
Unavailable Products – Add-A-Store uses the same logic as your online store when it comes to product availability. If a product is hidden from your storefront
Pinterest and Google+ are now part of the AddThis Integration – AddThis has recently added Pinterest and Google+ to their arsenal of social media shares. We have updated the default AddThis options to include them, removing the “Print” and “Google Bookmarks” options.

Country Code Sort Order fix – When a country other than US was set first, US was still the default country. Now the first country as the listed in your checkout settings is the default country.
Updated Setup Checklist – The existing Setup Checklist has been updated with a new look and better instructions. Merchants configuring their store can more quickly complete the setup process.

New Template Available – The default theme has been updated to a new grayscale template. This new template is more modern and can be more easily customized to match different business color variations.

Public API Updates – The public API available on the Premium level package will require all requests to be made securely. All API calls must be made through an https request after this release. This provides additional protection when transferring site data.
General Bug fixes – We have corrected some additional bugs in the software:
- Mobile Fixes:
- Personalization surcharges are not calculated correctly when having default values
- Default personalizations are not selected
- Product variations are working different from storefront site
- Hidden products are displayed
- Design Fixes:
- Allow Right Column in "Modern" templates and Logo Path
- Changes in Site design (font, color) does not affect product layout 6
- Recently Added Templates can't use a custom logo
- Updated Tax Table

- Allow for many Customer Location options
- Country Code Sort Order
- Company Name in Checkout
- Suppressing Design in Checkout
- Allow for Canadian based Estimated Shipping Rates
- Checkout Bug Fixes
- Performance Improvements

Allow for multiple Gift Certificates – A customer can now apply more than one gift certificate to their order. When more than one gift certificate is applied to an order, the one with the least amount on it will be exhausted first.

Company Name in Checkout – A merchant now has the ability to hide the Company Name label in checkout and the ability to edit the label. This is useful for sites working with “Organizations” or “Non-Profits” to better capture information.

Suppressing Design in Checkout – A merchant can now hide the Right and/or Left navigation in their checkout. This allows a merchant the ability to suppress these areas in an effort to improve conversion.
Checkout with Right and Left Navigation enabled.

Checkout with Right and Left Navigation disabled.

Allow for Canadian based Estimated Shipping Rates – Customers can now get estimated shipping rates for Canada on the cart.aspx page.
Checkout Bug Fixes – In addition to the checkout enhancements, the following checkout bugs will also be addressed in this release:

Version 7.9.8 Release Notes
The nsCommerceSpace® v7.9.8 release will add new features, address bugs, and improve performance.
The v7.9.8 was released on November 2, 2011
- Bing® Shopping Feed
- Order Lookup by Guests
- Order Management Enhancements
- Miscellaneous enhancements and bug fixes
Bing® Shopping Feed - A merchant can now generate a product feed that matches the Bing Shopping Feed standards. This will help merchants expand their syndication options and use this new channel to drive traffic to their online store.

Order Lookup by Guests – Merchants can enable a new feature in their store, which allows a customer to look up the status of their order without an account. This new feature includes a new Predefined Page, a new Order Status Description field, a new Site Setting, and an update to the Account page. The new Predefined Page (order-lookup.aspx) will allow customers with and without accounts to look up the status of an order, customer notes and shipping information. The customer will be required to enter both their email address and order number to retrieve the information.

The Order Lookup page can be enabled/disabled via Operations >> Setting>>Checkout (tab) >> Enable order status lookup (checkbox). If this page is disabled and a site visitor tries to access the page, they will be redirected to the Account Login screen, as they will be required to have an account to retrieve the information.

Order Management Enhancements - Some tweaks to the Order Management areas of the cart have been performed. Enhancements include showing tracking numbers on the Order Dashboard if there is 1 or many assigned to a particular order.

A merchant can also click through to the next and return to the previous order from an Order Details page, reducing the steps to fulfill multiple orders.

To support Order Lookup, a merchant can also add Status Descriptions to an Order Status. This will allow a merchant to communicate to all customers in a particular Order Status, without having to retype it on each order (ex. “Backordered products will experience a 48 hour delay in fulfillment” when a product is in a Backordered Order Status.)

Improved Message Center Notifications – An updated UI has been applied to the Message Center when a new message is waiting. This will ensure all merchants are seeing new messages pertinent to their online store.

Bug Fixes - Addressed a handful of additional bugs within the software:
- Predefined and Custom pages can now be sorted by Name, URL, or Last Modified date
- Code optimization to minimize the load time of pages
- Adding iOS5 to the list of Mobile Browsers for Mobile Store

For the partial search technology to kick in, the search function will require a minimum of 3 characters. Previously the search feature was an exact match, so only exact words would be returned.
New Design Templates - Three new design templates, with 3 color variations will be available for free to all merchants.
Updated Google® Shopping Feed - Anticipating the shopping feed requirements changes on September 22, 2011, you will now be able to configure your shopping feed with default values or populate Product Attributes for business specific values.

Shopping cart events was a highly requested feature in our forum poll. As a result we've added two new ways for merchants to merchandise their products and drive higher ticket prices.
BOGO -Configure a new discount code that will allow you to sell a certain quantity and reward your customers with a discount or free product. BOGO is powerful in selling a larger quantity of products in a single order. See full documentation
Recommended Products - We are adding a feature which will let you up-sell your customers' complimentary products. After they add a product to their cart you can present them with a few additional products. This feature can be added in our predefined location or leverage nsScripts to draw out these up-sell options on your Cart or Checkout pages. This tool will encourage additional products to be added to an order. See full documentation
Another trend we noticed in our customer feedback was their desire to better merchandise their products. As a result we are adding 4 new ways for merchants to display their products and design their site.
Tabbed Product Layout - Merchants will now be able to easily configure a new predefined tabbed product layout. All merchants will be able to activate this option with a few clicks of the mouse, and as always have the option to customize the HTML to meet their individual needs. You can activate this from the Predefined Product Layout section of the cart (Design > Product Layout Design). See full documentation
Image Zoom - Some stores offer products that need to show off their detail. Merchants can activate an Image Zoom option that will take your Detail Image and overlay it on the Product Display image, giving the user see the details of the product. This feature can be activated by logging into the Ecom Control Panel (Operations > Settings > Products (tab)). See full documentation.
Advanced Image Gallery - A new Image Gallery option is also available. The Advanced Image Gallery will allow you a new way of showing off thumbnails and a fly-out image gallery option when you click the display image. The prior image gallery will still be available for customers using custom code. This feature can be activated by logging into the Ecom Control Panel (Operations > Settings > Products (tab)). See full documentation
New Design Templates - A new design template, with 3 color variations will be available for free.
A few additional enhancements and features include:
New Bandwidth Report - You can now better understand how much data your site serves up on a monthly, daily or hourly basis. This will also show how much bandwidth your site used against the threshold. See full documentation

Integrations with Facebook® and AddThis™
Facebook® and AddThis™ are two of the most popular social network widgets which will help all customers to better promote their online store and products. Based on customer feedback in our forum poll, this was one of the top requested features.
- Each of the widgets will be integrated separately into the software, allowing merchants to use one, either, or both.
- Each widget will be seamlessly integrated into the store’s predefined layouts
- Each widget can be turned on with a few clicks of the button in these locations:
- Product Layout Design – if you share a product, it will post to the product image, title and short description.
- Site Design Columns – if you share this you will promote the overall site and the site logo.
- Order Confirmation Page – if you share this, you will once again promote the site, and is intended for merchants to get their customers to drive the relationship past the purchase.
- All widgets can be activated from the SETTINGS or SITE DESIGN > Columns pages, without interacting with HTML. This is intended to make it easy for novice users to open up the power of social networks.
- Product Layout and Order Confirmation Page widgets can also be placed in custom locations via nsScript
Full details can be found in the support documentation.
Optimize your online store for mobile devices (Premium merchants only)
Any nsCommerceSpace™ Premium merchant will also have the ability to enable a mobile version of their online store. This new feature will give customers the ability to shop in a mobile friendly environment, showing the critical items needed to complete a transaction on a mobile device.
Most major features are supported, based on a merchant’s existing settings; however it is encouraged to review the site thoroughly to ensure the mobile site meet the site’s specific needs.

Version 7.9.3 Release Notes
The nsCommerceSpaceTM v7.9.3 release will strengthen the security of the cart, address bugs in the software and expand some additional functionality in the cart.
The v7.9.3 release was released on September 15, 2010.
Disable AJAX Product Page Refresh
Google® Base Feed Bug Addressed
MyRegistry.com Gift Registry available
Help.aspx default content updated
The nsCommerceSpaceTM will utilize a new file manager after this release. The new file manager has improved security, a new UI (user interface) and uses new technologies that will improve the way you manage your store's media. Updated File Manger documentation is now available.
Disable AJAX Product Page Refresh:
With the last release (v7.9.2) we included an Enhancement to the Product Page. This feature improves your site's performance and reduces the need for a full page reload as variations or personalization questions are selected. However, this improvement caused issues for some merchants using custom JavaScript on their product pages (tabbed display, custom image zoom, AddThisTM application, etc). As a result, we are including a new setting that will allow a merchant to disable the dynamic refresh of the page. It can be adjusted via the cart's settings (Operations>Settings>Products tab).
Prior to this release we identified a bug which prevents a merchant from saving their Custom Attributes. After v7.9.3, merchants will once again be able to save the custom attributes in the Product Feeds section.
Network Solutions is proud to partner with MyRegistry.com to offer their universal gift registry application for nsCommerceSpaceTM merchants. This widget will allow visitors on your site to open a gift registry, add products from your site, and for visitors to their registry to buy from your site. To begin using their gift registry widget, go to the sign-up page specifically created for nsCommerceSpaceTM merchants. This page will give you step-by-step instructions on how to sign-up, configure, and begin using the gift registry widget on your site. Go here to sign up for the Gift Registry Widget (Integration will not work before 9/15 release).
Note: MyRegistry.com will handle issues related to the setup process. Their contact info is available in the above link.
Bookmarking Create a new order:
We have had a few requests to include a "Create New Order" feature in the cart. Since not all merchants utilize the feature, we are enhancing the Bookmarking feature in the cart. This will allow a merchant in the Control Panel to bookmark the Create New Order page into the left hand navigation. Simply navigate to the Create New Order page (Sales > Orders > Create a new order) and hit the "Bookmark this Page" link in the left navigation.
We identified an error in the default help.aspx page and corrected the information. This text is editable through your Control Panel (Pages > Predefined Pages > help.aspx). If you made any changes prior to the release, we did not adjust the page's content.
- Sorting Discounts by descending causes an error
- Product Export will not include products hidden based on stock level
- In the Control Panel, variation part numbers will not appear if the variation is disabled
- Pagination broken in Product Bundles
- One page checkout questions bypassed when using PayPal® Express
- Along with various other minor bugs
Version 7.9.2 Release Notes
The nsCommerceSpace™ v7.9.2 release is a maintenance update focused on improving the platform’s performance, enhancing security, improving existing functionality and correcting bugs.
The v7.9.2 was released on June 17, 2010.
Enhancement to the Product Page
Improved Security
To provide your customers with an improved online shopping experience, we have implemented two new security features.
Customer Prompted Password Creation:
If you manually create a new account for your customers in the Control Panel, the “Create Password” option has been removed. Instead, after the account is created an email will be sent to the email address on file, requesting them to create their own password.
Password Reset Link:
This functionality will send a customer the password rest link to the email address on the account.
Enhancement to the Product Page
When you used variations on a product prior to this release, the page reloaded each time an option was selected. This slowed the performance of the site and hindered your customer’s experience. The page will now dynamically update without requiring a full page refresh.
Miscellaneous Enhancements
Performance Optimization
These include various code optimizations to enhance the performance of the platform’s front-end and Control Panel performance.
Tax Rates Update
The calculated tax rates have been updated and loaded.
One-Page Checkout
Google® Analytics will now track conversions when using the One-Page Checkout.
Payment Gateway: Chase Paymentech
The gateway no longer rejects a payment if the city length is long.
Gift Certificates Administration
When sorting by date created, the codes now sort correctly.
Version 7.9.1 Release Notes
The v7.9.1 release is a small update dedicated to one powerful, highly requested feature: One-Page Checkout. Our one-page checkout feature gives you the choice of having your customers' entire checkout experience happen in one page! One-page checkout is in addition to our current multi-page checkout option.
This v7.9.1 went live on April 20th 2010.
One-Page Checkout
If you prefer to have your customer stay on one page to complete their checkout, then the One-Page Checkout option may be a perfect fit for your business needs.
In One-Page Checkout, each section (Login, Shipping, Shopping Cart, Payment, etc) are handled on the same page, where the customer simply enters the required information for each section and clicks the Next button.

Clients can choose between the traditional multi-step checkout and the one-page checkout in the Operations > Settings section of the Control Panel.

You can also make changes to your One-Page Checkout page as you would any other page via the Pages section of the Control Panel.

Reports
- The timeframes of reports generated for the current date were not matching the actual sales numbers for the day.

Version 7.9 Release Notes
With the v7.9 nsCommerceSpace Release, we introduced a ton of new features and enhancements that will help you tailor your customer's experience like never before. Many of the new features were highly requested by our community and added new functionality to the already robust nsCommerceSpace platform. The major features are listed below.
This v7.9 Release went live Thursday, March 4th, 2010.
Product Bundling
One of our most requested features our clients make is the ability to bundle products into packages and special promotions by associating bundles with a master product(s). The new release introduces this feature, which can help you introduce your customers to the perfect group of products tailored just for their needs.

How it works
A product bundle is still considered a product and is constructed in many ways, like a normal product is created (In the Products Manager under the Inventory Tab). The key difference is that, instead of variations, a product bundle has packages. These packages are constructed of different existing products within your store and represent choices your customers can select when putting together their product bundle.
For more information on Product Bundles click here.
Category Page Layout Editor
The Category Page Layout editor gives you the ability to customize the look and feel of the layout of your category pages. You'll be able to create up to five custom category page layout templates for use with your category/subcategory layouts, though only one layout can be active at any time.

How it works
The default category Layout we provide defines how the products in each category will be displayed on the storefront. Each category layout supports html functions but requires a few specific nsScript functions to define the product layout. You can now tweak these settings to make your product presentation reflect the purpose of your store.
To learn more about the Category Page Layout, click here.
Email Enhancements
We've extended the email template capabilities to include Shopping Cart/abandoned cart Emails, limited bulk emailing, the ability to test different statuses for status change emails, and to select up to twenty-five abandoned carts at once.

How it works
You can now create new Abandoned Cart email templates that can be sent to customers who, for whatever reason, do not complete their purchase on your store. By cloning the existing default email, you can start editing the text and html sections of the email to better suit your needs.
We've also added the ability to test different statuses within the Status Change email, to help ensure the right message is sent to your customers when their product moves through your store's fulfillment processes.

To learn more about Email Design, click here.
Global Related Product Rules
With the new release we're introducing the highly requested ability to relate products to one another in bulk. You'll be able to create global rules for related products that can apply across products, categories, manufacturers and more. We're also making it easier to select products in bulk.

How it works
Each Global Related Product rule is made of products that the rules apply to, and a collection of sub-rules that relate different groups of products to previous list. For Example, you could create a rule that relates all of your products from a Manufacturer (A Cut Above, for instance) to a category (Clothing, for instance) which would display three of these related products in a random order.
For more information about Global Related Product rules, click here.
Google Feed Update
The Google Feed is a powerful tool for online merchants and we've been hard at work, improving the usability and customizability of the feature to help your products be seen. These enhancements include expanded Google Feed required feeds to match Google's current list, and the ability to configure the recommended and optional fields directly from the Google Feed page in the Control Panel.
How it works
The Google Base Feed continues to change and become better. You can now, from the Google Base Feed edit page, specify new recommended, optional and custom fields. These will be automatically included in the new feed when you generate them.

nsCommerceSpace Design Enhancements
We're working on several different Design-specific enhancements to help your overall experience in you nsCommerceSpace store. These enhancements, while small, can enhance your customer's experience in your store.
FAQ Builder

This feature allows you to quickly build FAQ pages without relying heavily on custom HTML coding or anchor tag placements. Once you've created your FAQs you can add them to a custom page and link to that page on your storefront.

Select ALL for Site-wide fonts/settings

We've added an option that will allow you to modify all font settings at the same time, saving designers from having to change each option one-by-one.
