Introduction
Within the reports section of the Control Panel, you can review the bandwidth usage by the store over certain periods of time. This will give you a better understanding of the amount of data you are using each month, day, and even hour. This can then be compared to the limit for your package, providing ample time to understand if you need to upgrade their package to avoid overage charges or delays in service.
Reading the Bandwidth Report
The bandwidth Report offers a handful of views to help you better understand your usage stats. Reports can be generated at the top by selecting a date range or by selecting a predefined time frame. Based on the dates placed in the reports, the reports will then show Monthly, Weekly, or Hourly data.
The report will show the following data points:
- Month/Year (also Day or Hour) - This field will dynamically update based on the measures. This will tell you the time periods being measured. This field is a hyperlink that allows a drill down into the data (ex. clicking a month will give you days within that month).
- Bandwidth In - This shows how much data is being imported into your site. A high "bandwidth in" is typically a result of mass Export/Imports, adding a large number of image files.
- Bandwidth Out - This is how much data is flowing out of your site, typically a result of site visitors. This can also be driven up by doing mass Exports of data.
- Bandwidth Total - This is derived from adding "bandwidth in" and "bandwidth out". This is the number measured against the store's monthly limit.
- Monthly Limit - Based on the package size, this is the limit for the site per month. Being a monthly limit, this resets each month. If you move package sizes, this will be reflected here as well.
- % of Monthly Limit - This tells you how much of the limit was consumed so far this month.
