Can I FTP My Web Site If I’m Using FrontPage Extensions

Article Rating: 1 / 5 Votes: 9

For security reasons and to maintain the functionality of FrontPage, Network Solutions advises that you NOT update your Web site with FTP when you have the FrontPage Extensions installed.

You should only use FTP to upload files to your public ftp directory, upload scripts to your cgi-bin directory or change file permissions.

It is also recommended that you NOT remove any files from your FrontPage Web site with an FTP client, unless they were originally uploaded using FTP

If you use FTP to modify your Web site (html files, etc.), you may corrupt your FrontPage extensions and break your Web site.

Note: Network Solutions no longer offers FrontPage extensions on new accounts, as they have been discontinued by Microsoft.
