Data Center Move FAQsWhat is a data center? A data center is the place your site is stored. Data centers are filled with many servers (very large computers) used to store websites and the infrastructure needed to support your website.
Why are you moving it now? The timing of the data center is critical as we want to ensure the new home for your online store is up and running in time for the busy holiday selling season.
What does IP Whitelist or IP Blacklist? As it relates to payment processing, an IP Whitelist means only traffic is allowed from a particular IP address(es). All other IPs are declined and do not process the payment. The reverse of Whitelist is Blacklist, which means any traffic coming from a particular IP Address(es) is declined; and all non-Blacklist IP addresses are permitted.
How can I tell if my payment gateway is using an IP Whitelist or Blacklist? Most merchant providers require you to opt-in to this type of service. Since all of your payment requests from your online store come from a single IP address, it is likely you have not turned this on. Typically this setting can be found within a “Settings” menu, either under “Fraud Protection” or “IP Settings” within your payment gateway control panel. The easiest way to find out if this affects you is to contact your merchant account provider and simply ask for assistance.
What IP address is changing? As part of the move we are updating the IP address used to send payment processing requests. After September 21, your store payments will come from our new IP Address: ‘209.17.114.75’. Your store payments will continue to come from our current IP Address until the September 21st migration: ‘205.178.191.180’.
I received a second email, what IP address change do I need to make? All merchants should check with their Payment Gateway provider to ensure they aren't impacted. Mrchants using PayPal Payflow Pro and Chase Paymentech have a required change, as these providers at one time require an IP address as part of their sign-up process. If you use one of these payment gateways contact your merchant provider before Sept 21 to make the change.
What will customers see when they try to visit my site during the move? While we are moving your site, your site will not be accessible. Once the files have been moved over we will provide a Site Maintenance page.
