How do I set up Options for DreamWeaver's FTP Connection?

Article Rating: 1 / 5 Votes: 49

When setting up your DreamWeaver FTP connection to the Network Solutions® Web Hosting package the following options are available:

Passive FTP – Your local network may require you to transfer in a passive mode. To determine whether or not this option should be selected, ask your system administrator. You can also try to connect without selecting this option.

Firewall – If you want to connect to your remote server from behind a firewall, select Use firewall. Click the Firewall Settings button to view preference options to edit your firewall host or port.

Through Firewall Host, you will find the address of the proxy server to connect to outside servers. Select Use Firewall in the Site Definition dialog box.

Leave this space blank if you are not behind a firewall.

Firewall Port specifies the port in your firewall. If you connect through a port other than 21 (the default for FTP), type in the port number here.

SSH Encrypted Secure Login (DreamWeaver MX only) – SSH is a method of transferring files that encrypts content you send over a network. Your server administrator will be able to tell you if your local network server is set up this way or if additional passwords will be needed.

Check In/Out – This option limits files from being edited by more than one person at a time. Select Check In/Out and then Check Out to edit it a file. When a file is checked out, other people will only be able to read the file, not make changes to it.
