Article Rating: 1 / 5 Votes: 14

In order to transfer your .ca domain name from another registrar to Network Solutions® you must complete the transfer request form and fax it to us at (571) 434-4658. Transferring your domain name to Network Solutions costs $34.99 and adds a year to your .ca domain name registration term.

Step 1: Complete the transfer request form.

Make sure to note the following:

  • The Registered Name Holder or Administrative Contact for the .ca domain name must complete and sign the form. You can verify who is currently listed at the registered Name Holder and Administrative Contact for your .ca domain by searching for your domain in the WHOIS database. Click here for instructions on how to update your WHOIS contacts.
  • When transferring a .ca domain name the .ca registry (CIRA) requires that you provide a Registrant ID and a Domain ID. You must retrieve these ID's from your current registrar.
  • You must provide proof of your identity by submitting a copy of one of the following documents with your transfer request:
    • Notarized statement,
    • Valid Drivers license
    • Passport
    • Military ID
    • State/Government issued ID
    • Birth Certificate

Step 2: Approve the request at CIRA

Once you send in the form, we will submit your .ca domain name transfer request to the .ca registry (CIRA). CIRA will send you an email requesting that you log into your CIRA account and approve the request. You have seven days to approve the request. If you do not approve the request within seven days, the transfer request is cancelled. CIRA will send you an email to notify you that the transfer request has been cancelled.

Step 3: Network Solutions completes the transfer

CIRA will send you and Network Solutions an email confirmation once you approve the transfer request. Network Solutions will then complete the transfer within our system. This may take 2-3 business days. We will send you an email once the transfer is complete. You can now manage your .ca domain name via Account Manager by logging into your Network Solutions account.
