How To Publish Your FrontPage Web Site
Note: Microsoft FrontPage extensions are no longer available on new accounts, because they are no longer supported by Microsoft.
A Web site created in FrontPage should be uploaded directly from the publishing interface available within the FrontPage software.
To publish your Web site:
1. Open your Web site with FrontPage
2. Click on File in the top menu then click on Publish Web to open the publishing dialogue boxes
3. Type your domain name in the Publish Destination text box in the form of http://www.yourdomain.com, then click on the Ok or Publish button (depending on your version of FrontPage
4. If this is your first time publishing you will be prompted to enter your User name and Password, then click on the Ok button:
- Username / UserID – This is your FTP username as assigned in the FTP Accounts section
- Password – This is your FTP password as assigned in the FTP Accounts section
Your Web site should start to publish to your Network Solutions server space.
Note Although we provide FTP access to FrontPage accounts, it is not to be used to upload your pages to your Web site. You should only use FTP to upload to your public ftp directory, upload scripts to your cgi-bin directory or change file permissions.
It is also recommended that you NOT remove any files from your FrontPage Web site with an FTP client, unless they were originally uploaded using FTP
If you use FTP to modify your Web site (html files, etc.), you may corrupt your FrontPage extensions and break your Web site.
The above steps are for FrontPage 2000, other versions of FrontPage may be slightly different. Please refer to your FrontPage Help section or documentation for instructions specific to your software version.
