How To Set Up Directory Passwords
Password protection allows you to create password-protected directories for your Web site. When a user attempts to view the contents of a password-protected directory, they will be prompted to enter a username and password that you assign via a Web login. To set up password protection: 1. Go to www.networksolutions.com 2. Click the Manage Account tab at the top right corner of your screen. 3. Enter the User ID and password you created during your Web Hosting purchase. If you've forgotten your log-in information, please visit: https://www.networksolutions.com/manage-it/forget-login.jsp. 4. Click on My Products & Services tab. 5. Click on the My Hosting Packages hyperlink. If you have more than one Web Hosting package, select the package you need to update. 6. Click on the Web Hosting Toolbox button 6. Scroll down to the Security section and then click on the Password Protection icon 7. Click on the Web Directories tab To password protect an existing directory: 8. Click on the Web Logins tab To create a new login for the password protected directory: a. Click on the Add button in the upper right-hand corner b. Type the username in the Username text box, type the password in the Password text box and type it again in the Confirm Password text box (Passwords must be 4-8 characters in length) c. Select the Web Directory you created from the Directory drop down menu, then click on the Add button d. Select the radio buttons under Permissions to set the permissions level you would like assign to this web directory and login then click on the Ok button To add a password protected directory to an existing login: a. Select the radio button to the left of the Web login to which you want to add the password protected directory then click on the Edit button b. Select the password protected Web Directory you want to add from the Directory drop down menu then click on the Add button c. Select the radio buttons under Permissions to set the permissions level you would like assign to this web directory and login then click on the Ok button Note If you password protect your root directory you will not be able to publish your ImageCafé® Web Site.
To add a new password protected directory:
a. Click on the Add button in the upper right-hand corner to create a new Web directory
b. Type the new directory name (e.g. /custserv) and select the check box to the left of Password Protected then click on the Ok button
a. Select the radio button to the left of the directory you want to password protect then click on the Edit button
b. Select the check box to the left of Password Protected then click on the Ok button
