How To Set Up The MySQL Connection From DreamWeaver
To set up a MySQL connection from DreamWeaver to your Network Solutions Web Hosting package:
1. Open Dreamweaver
2. Click on File then select New
3. Click on Dynamic Page in the left-hand frame then click on PHP (or any other type of dynamic page) in the right-hand frame
4. Click on Create (a new blank page will appear)
5. Click on Tools in the navigation menu then select Application
6. Click on the Database tab
7. If a Web site has already been created, skip options #1 and #2
8. Click on the Testing Server link in option #3
9. Verify or update the following settings:
- Server Model equal to PHP MySQL
- Access equal to FTP (this information is pertaining to how Dreamweaver will upload its pages)
- FTP Host equal to your domain name
- Host Directory equal to the directory where you would like your pages to be uploaded
- Login / Password equal to your Web Hosting FTP username / password
- URL prefix must be the complete URL (i.e. http://yourdomain.com/database/)
10. Click on the OK button
11. In the Database tab in the application window click on the + at the top of the window then select MySQL Connection
12. Verify or update the following settings:
- The connection name should be descriptive so that you will remember (e.g. My Web Site)
- MySQL Server Name equal to the IP address of your Network Solutions MySQL server.
- User Name / Password equal to your MySQL database username / password.
- Database equal to the name of your MySQL database.
13. Click on the Test button
14. If the test is successful click “OK” if the test in unsuccessful review the information provided in step #9 and 12
