How To Transfer A Web Site From Another Hosting Company To Network Solutions nsHosting Shared
To transfer your current Web site from another Hosting company to Network Solutions:
- Keep your existing service active during transition: Overlap service with Network Solutions and your existing provider during the transition period to minimize the risk of downtime. The overlap period should last a minimum of five (5) business days.
- Back up your existing Web site:
Create a backup of your Web site on a disk or your computer hard drive. Ensure your backup contains all Web files, databases, script files, etc. Unless you use publishing software (e.g. FrontPage), use your FTP software to copy all of the directories and files from your Web site.
· If you are using Dreamweaver, use the GET command to copy all of your Web site files.
· If you are using FrontPage, use the Import feature to make a complete copy of the current Web site.
- Configure your new Hosting Package: Review your Welcome e-mail from Network Solutions and the article on How To Access The Hosting Control Panel How To Access The Hosting Control Panel. Before beginning your Web site conversion you should set up FTP Access How To Set Up FTP Account(s), create your Databases and enable Web site statistics.
- Upload your files:
Once your Hosting Package is configured, you can upload your files to your hosting space. Following are four common methods for uploading the files:
· FTP: Use your FTP software to FTP the files from the backup you created. Review the article How To Set Up FTP Account(s) How To Set Up FTP Account(s for instructions on how to obtain your FTP Username and Password.

· File Manager: Use the File Manager tool in the Hosting Control Panel to upload files to your Web Hosting directories. Use the Upload link in File Manager to transfer your Web site files to your new hosting space.
- Configure your e-mail: If your domain name is not registered with Network Solutions, it is important for you to set up your new e-mailboxes before you update the domain name servers (DNS) for your domain.
- Domain Management: Your web site will be available to you within 12-36 hours (transfers may take longer). In the meantime, you can access your package through the Hosting Package URL listed in the welcome e-mail (example http://<uniquenumber>.NETSOLHOST.COM). This URL is unique to your Web Hosting Package and is a good way to access your Web site quickly.

· If you have any custom code it may need to be modified to reference the new site and correctly mirror your original site
If your hyperlinks are not working, make sure the linked to files are in the correct directory as referenced in the hyperlink
