Inserting and Editing Images

Images are an important ingredient of a good web design. They make your website visually appealing and help present information in a way that keeps visitors interested in your site. Adding images to your website is easy with our Website Builder Tool.

Begin by opening a page in the Website Builder Tool where you would like your image to appear. Some pages come with pre-built content blocks for images. To replace the placeholder image with your own graphic, click the default image icon.

When inserting an image, you can choose from our extensive library of free images or from files that you have uploaded to the Website Builder Tool. You can browse through available images using page numbers or the Next and Previous links at the bottom of the popup window. You can also search for an image by typing a keyword in the Search box at the top of the popup.

For simple changes to your image, use the inline editor that appears when you click the Edit button. From here, you can:

  • Replace the image with a different graphic.
  • Align the image on the page to the left, right or center.
  • Rotate the image clockwise and counterclockwise.
  • Crop the image by dragging the cropping guides that appear on top of your image. Make sure to click Apply in the editor popup for your changes to take effect.
  • Reduce the image size using a quick selection list.

If for some reason, you are not happy with the changes, click the Undo All button to restore the original image. Make sure to click Save to apply your changes permanently. To close the inline editor, simply click anywhere on the page outside the image area.

  • Adjust the image brightness and contrast.
  • Flip the image vertically or horizontally.
  • Undo (or redo) changes to the image one at a time.
  • Add a caption and an alt tag to your image. A caption is a brief description that appears immediately below the image on the published site. The alt tag attribute is used as alternative text if the image fails to load in the visitor's browser.
  • Link your image to another page on your site, another website, an email address or a file that you have uploaded to the Website Builder Tool.

You can preview what your image would look like on the published site by clicking the Preview button in the top right corner of the screen. Make sure to publish your site for the new image to appear live on the Internet.
