Local Search Visibility Set-up Guide

Welcome! This guide will help you learn how to use the Network Solutions® Local Search Visibility service.

Why Use Local Search Visibility Service?

With the Local Search Visibility service from Network Solutions®, your business information will be syndicated to our network of over one hundred local search partners, including online directories, also known as the Internet yellow pages (e.g., Yahoo!® Local, Superpages.com®, YellowPages.comTM, etc.), search engines (Google® and BingTM), industry specific sites (e.g., Edmunds.com), city guides (e.g., SanDiego.com) and many other sites geared toward local search.

You will be able to track the distribution status of your business listing through our Project Center where links to your profiles in various directories will be activated as they become available. Our on-demand Ranking Report will offer insight into the performance of your local listing (and your website) in the leading search engines and local directories.

You will also benefit from the state-of-the-art keyword intelligence tool that analyzes your website in real time and suggests the best performing search terms or keywords for your business. You will be able to incorporate these keywords into your business listing to boost its visibility in local search results.

Getting Started

Step 1: Login to the Account Manager at http://www.networksolutions.com. If you have forgotten your login information, please visit https://www.networksolutions.com/manage-it/forget-login.jsp. Click the nsMarketing™ link under the My Products and Services tab and locate your Local Search Visibility service.

Step 2: To set up your Local Search Visibility service, click Go to the right of the product name in the Set Up Services section. You can also click the Local Search Visibility service name and proceed to the details page where you will be able to click Set up your local business listing. The setup form will open in a separate browser window under the Business Profile tab.

Step 3: On the setup form, enter your website URL in the Website Address field. This URL will appear as a link in your online business listing, thus making it easier for search engines like Google® and Yahoo!® to find your site.

Step 4: In the Business Name field, enter the official name of your company. Your business name must be accurate and consistent across multiple directories and other sources of information that potential customers would use to find your business. You should avoid using keywords or location identifiers in your business name unless they are part of it already.

Step 5: Enter the street address and contact information for your business, including business phone number and email address. Street address is important in local search where results are displayed based on proximity to the user's target location. Make sure to provide accurate information as this is how your customers will be able to find you.

Step 6: Select a category that most accurately describes the line of business you are in. Keep in mind that top level categories are highly competitive. Make sure to select a subcategory to differentiate your business from competition.

Step 7: Take time to provide as much detail about your business as possible, including:

  • A concise yet enticing and informative business description that includes a couple of keywords that customers would use to find your business. Note that your business description must be, at least, 250 characters long.
  • A list of specialties or your products and services that differentiate you from competitors.
  • A list of brands that can further increase the relevancy of your business listing.
  • Payment options and hours of operation that will make it easier for customers to come prepared to make a purchase.

Step 8: Certain directories allow a logo or other image to be included in your business listing. Make sure that the image you select is in one of the acceptable web formats and meets the size requirements specified on the setup form.

Step 9: Click the Keyword Suggestions button below the Keywords field to view and select relevant keywords that we have found for your business. For example, we will be able to prompt you whether "New York pizza restaurant" is a better search term for your business than "pizzeria".

Step 10: Once you are satisfied with your entries, click the Publish button. At this point, your information will be syndicated to our network of local partners. Your business listing will be created within 24 hours in our local directory - ThinkLocal®. You will receive an e-mail from us confirming your submission.

Keep in mind that it may take up to 90 to 120 days for your business listing to appear in some directories.
