Mac 10.5 Mail Client Setup

Many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have recently begun blocking port 25. If port 25 does not work for you, try using server port 2525 as an outgoing server.

This tutorial will take you through the step by step process of setting up your Network Solutions email with Mac Mail OS 10.5

If this is your first time opening the mail application skip to step 4

 

1.     With Mac Mac open Click on the mail menu and select preferences

2.     Click on the accounts tab

3.     Click the + sign to add a new account

4.     Enter this information:

5.     Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From" field of your outgoing messages.

6.     Email Address: Enter your full mail address (e.g., john@example.com).

7.     Password: Enter your password.

8.     Click Continue

9.     Click on the account type and select pop

10.   Enter this information:

11.   Description: enter in a name for this account

12.   For your Incoming mail server (POP3): type "mail" followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com)

13.   User Name: Enter your full email address

14.   Password: Enter your password.

15.   Click continue

16.   For your Outgoing mail server (SMTP): type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com)

17.   Click on the use only this server box

18.   Click the check box for Use Authentication box and enter in your user name and password

19.   On the “Account Summary” screen make sure all information is correct and click continue

20.   Click the Server Settings button

21.   Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587

22.   Choose authentication password and enter your user name and password

Click ok to finish your email setup
