Before You Begin
Please read through this Getting Started guide before you begin designing your site. Setting up your Web site can be done in just four easy steps. However, a little bit of planning will help you design a Web site that truly expresses who you are.
When you're ready to begin designing your Web site, log in to Account Manager at: http://www.networksolutions.com to view your Web site package.
If you've forgotten your log-in information, please visit: https://www.networksolutions.com/manage-it/forget-login.jsp.
Step 1: Make sure your Web site has the correct domain name (also known as a Web address).
If you haven't assigned a domain name to your Web site, you will need to go to Account Manager and designate one.
- From the Updates and Alerts page, click Go and follow the instructions for assigning a domain name to your Web site package.
You can also access these instructions by clicking "My Website Packages". If you have more than one Web site package in your account, click on the package you want to use to build your Web site.
Please Note: If you already have a domain name, click the Web Site Builder Tool icon to begin creating your Web site.
After selecting your domain name, you will have the opportunity set up your e-mail. From there, you will be redirected to the Web Site Builder Tool.
If you already have a domain name and want to set up e-mailboxes, click "My Email". Click Add E-mailbox.
If you have multiple domains, select the domain you want to use and click Continue.
On the e-mail page, designate a name and password for each e-mailbox you create. Depending on your needs, choose an address format such as last-name.first-name@my-non-profit.org.
You may also want to consider creating a general e-mail address, such as contactme@my-non-profit.org.
You will need to assign a temporary password for each of the e-mailboxes you set up. Passwords must be 8-16 characters and contain at least 1 upper case character, at least 1 lower case character, and at least 1 numeral (W6e3ENat).
Temporary passwords can be changed by each user when they log in to their individual account at http://mail.my-non-profit.org.
Step 3: Set up your Web site with our easy Web Site Builder tool
To begin designing your Web site, click "My Websites" and then Manage Web Sites.
Here, our brief setup wizard will guide you through the steps of building your Web site.
As you go through the process of creating your site, keep these pointers in mind:
Content
Be prepared to include information about:
- Who you are
- What you do
- Why your cause is important
- If applicable, why individuals should donate, information regarding your event schedule, etc.
Recommended Pages
The templates automatically include certain page types for you. Below is an example of what a typical charitable organization might require:
- Home Page
- Who We Are
- Donate
- Projects
- Resources
- Contact Us
You can change or add to these pages at any time. Consider what information you need to convey to members of your organization and visitors to your Web site.
Standard Features
Your Web site package automatically includes the following features:
Images
Network Solutions® provides free, high quality images that you can choose from for your Web site, or you can upload your own images-or a combination of both.
Maps and Directions
Your contact information and a map of your location will be automatically pre-filled based on your account information for you. You can edit or change this at any time.
Links and Documents
Offer your members additional resources by adding links or including related documents in Microsoft Word® or PDF files for downloading.
Web Site Tools
You may choose to take advantage of certain features unique to the Non-Profit Organizations Web Site Solution, by adding Web Site Tools including:
Donate Now - include a PayPal® "Donate Now" button on your Web site. When a customer clicks on the button, he or she will be taken to PayPal's site, where the transaction will be processed. You must have a PayPal Premier or Business Account to accept credit card payments.
Event Calendar - customize the event calendar to inform your members or visitors to your site about one-time and recurring events.
Contact Management - Gather member and prospective member contact information through online forms on your Web site. Market to and communicate with your members using our professionally designed e-mail, newsletter and announcement templates.
e-Referral - let your members share your Web site with others via e-mail. The e-Referral link enables visitors to recommend your site to their friends.
Polls - post a poll on your Web site and find out what your visitors think about whatever topic you want to research.
Forms Generator - add online forms to quickly gather information from your visitors.
Document Library - keep track of all of the documents on your Web site.
Blogs - share the latest news, and reach out to members with a blog on your Web site.
