Outlook 2000 Email Client Setup

Many Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have recently begun blocking port 25. If port 25 does not work for you, try using server port 2525 as an outgoing server. This setting can usually be found under the 'Advanced' tab within your Email Setting dialog box.

 

Microsoft Outlook® 2000 and Outlook® 98 (PC)

 

This tutorial will take you through the step by step process of setting up your Network Solutions email with outlook 2000/Outlook 98

  1. With outlook 2000 or outlook 98 open From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
  2. Click the "Add" button.
  3. From the Add menu, click "Mail".
  4. In the Display Name box, type your name as you would like it to appear when you send a message, and then click "Next".
  5. In the E-Mail Address text box, enter your email address (e.g. john@example.com), and then click "Next".
  6. In the box labeled "My incoming mail server is a..." select "POP3" server.

7.     For your server information enter:

  1. Type "mail." followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com) in the Incoming Mail Server box.
  2. Type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com) in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box.
  3. Click "Next".
  4. In the Account Name box, enter your full email address (e.g., john@example.com).
  5. In the Password box, enter your password.
  6. Do not check "Log On Using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)."
  7. Click "Next".
  8. Choose the appropriate connection type under the "Which Method Do You Use to Connect to the Internet" heading.
  9. If you chose "Connect using my phone line," you will need to select a dial-up connection in the Dial-up Connection Wizard and click "Next".
  10. Click "Finish."
  11. Select the Network Solutions' Mail account (e.g. mail.example.com) and click "Properties."
  12. Select the "Servers" tab.
    Check the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication."
  13. Click on the advanced tab and Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587

Click ok then close to finish your email set up
