Local Business Listing - Business Information

business information

  1. If you are accessing the Business Profile form for the first time, enter your domain name in the Website Address field. This domain name will appear as a link in your online business listing, thus making it easier for search engines like Google® and Yahoo!® to find your site. Once the form is submitted, you will not be able to change this domain name unless you contact our Customer Service for assistance. Make sure to enter the domain name correctly, including the "http://" part.
  2. In the Business Name field, enter the official name of your business. Your business name should be accurate and consistent across multiple directories and other sources of information that potential customers may use to find your business. You should avoid using keywords or location identifiers in your business name unless they are part of it already . This practice is perceived as "keyword stuffing" by the search engines and may adversely impact your business listing.
  3. Enter your Business Headline as another way to get customers' attention with a snappy slogan as well as to attract search engine spiders with keywords.
  4. Take time to provide a description of your business that is concise yet informative and contains keywords that you want potential customers to use to find your business listing and your website.
  5. Select the Line of Business or category that most accurately describes the type of business you are in. Keep in mind that the top level categories are very competitive. We recommend selecting additional subcategories to set your business apart from competition.
  6. You may optionally provide the geographic area where you serve your customers in the Service Area field. This can be your town, county or region. Keep it to one line and make sure to include a keyword or two.
