Getting Started with Local Search Visibility
Search Engine Visibility Set-up GuideWelcome! This guide will help you learn how to use Network Solutions® Search Engine Visibility Service.
Why Use Search Engine Visibility Service?
By using Network Solutions® Search Engine Visibility Service (SEV), you will be able to submit website and business information to various search engines including Yahoo!®, Google®, BingTM and the Open Directory Project. You will also be able to monitor where your web traffic is coming from and how many visitors you receive each day.
Getting Started
Step 1: Login to Account Manager at: http://www.networksolutions.com. If you have forgotten your login information, please visit: https://www.networksolutions.com/manage-it/forget-login.jsp.
Under the My Products and Services tab, click nsMarketing and select your Search Engine Visibility product..
Step 2: Access the Search Engine Visibility setup wizard.
- Click Go to the right of the Search Engine Visibility product description.
- After reading the "Welcome" page, click Next to continue.
- Enter your website URL. Make sure that the URL is accurate before continuing as you will not be able to make any changes to it after clicking Save and Continue.
Step 3: Select a category from the drop-down list that best describes your business. Throughout this setup process, you will be asked to choose from a variety of categories and subcategories created by the search engines you will be submitting to. Always choose categories and subcategories that best represent your business for optimal results.
Step 4: Select a business category to be used in the Yahoo!® Directory. Depending on the type of business you own, you may have to choose from several subcategories to reach the category that best describes your business.
Step 5: Select a business category to be used in the Open Directory Project (also known as DMOZ). Choose the categories and subcategories that best describe your business.
Step 6: In the spaces provided under Business Contact Information, enter all relevant business information. Use a valid email address for confirmation purposes.
To be included in local directories such as Yellowpages®, Yahoo!® Local and Google® Maps, fill in the appropriate information in the spaces provided under "Local Directory Submission, for U.S.-based businesses."
Step 7: Choose keywords that best describe your business. Include, at least, three keywords or phrases. Keywords should be relevant to your business. Separate keyword phrases with a comma. Example: Jane's bagel shop, NYC bagels, Bagel Breakfast Shop.
- Enter the website title into the box provided. This title should accurately describe the type of business you own and operate.
- In the last box provided, create a short description of your business (12 to 15 words). This description should provide a short introduction to the type of business you own.
Example: Jane's Bagels provides New York City's freshest homemade bagels, beverages and more.
Step 8: You are now ready to submit your website and business information to the search engines.
- Choose the frequency in which you would like to submit this information. You can choose to re-submit quarterly or annually.
- After choosing the submission frequency, click Save and Submit.
Please note: The frequency of submission will not change when you make changes to the information in your account. You will have to select a new frequency option if you want to increase or decrease the frequency of submission.
Step 9: Retrieve the code needed to view Network Solutions SuperStats®, which are tracking reports on your website.
- Click the link provided to reveal the code. The link for this code can be found by clicking the nsMarketingTM link in the My Products and Services area of the Account Manager and navigating to your Search Engine Visibility service page.
- Scroll down to Tools and click the link found under the configuration heading.
- For HTML users, copy and paste the code before the closing of your body tag </body>.
- If using Website Builder, copy the code, insert a new building block, click Insert Item and choose the "HTML" option. You will then copy the code into your text editor.
Please note: In order to track visitors to each page of your site, you must insert the code on each page.
