Set Up Options For DreamWeaver’s FTP Connection

Article Rating: 1 / 5 Votes: 18

When setting up your DreamWeaver FTP Connection to the Network Solutions Hosting package the following options may need to be selected:

Passive FTP – Your local network may require you to transfer in a passive mode. To determine whether or not this option should be selected, ask your system administrator. Or try connecting without the selecting this option and if there are difficulties select the passive mode and try to connect again.

Firewall – Select the Firewall option if your computer is behind a Firewall. You will need to type the correct Firewall Host and Firewall Port in DreamWeaver Preferences.

SSH encrypted secure login (Dreamweaver MX only) – SSH is a method of transferring files that encrypts, for security purposes, content sent over a network. Ask your server administrator if your local network server is set up this way and if additional passwords are required.

Check In/Out – This option protects your files from being edited by more than one person at a time. Each member of a Web development team should select the Check In/Out option and then Check Out a file to edit it. When a file is Checked Out it becomes Read Only for the rest of the team until it is Checked In.
