Standard Login vs. Secure Login. What Is the Difference?

Article Rating: 2 / 5 Votes: 20

The standard login page uses a simple script to pass your login credentials (user name and password) to the mail server. It is possible that if someone were to intercept this transmission of packets, the user name and password would be compromised.

The secure login page utilizes a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) to encrypt the user name and password before passing them to the mail server. With a secure login, any packets that might be intercepted are in an encrypted format that will be unreadable. The secure login page is recommended for users who are particularly concerned about security.

To login securely, simply check the box beneath the "Login" button.
