Setting POP Frequency

E-mail software can be set up to retrieve your messages automatically on a regular interval. For optimal performance, we recommend you adjust your retrieval setting to check for new messages every 5 minutes.

Microsoft Outlook 2010


This tutorial will take you through the step by step process of setting up your Network Solutions email with outlook 2010. If you would like to see a video step by step click here.

  1. With outlook open Click the tab labeled “File” on the top left hand side.
  2. Select “Info” on the left hand navigation 
  3. Click “Add Account”
  4. Enter the following information:
    1. Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From" field of your outgoing messages.
    2. Email Address: Enter your full mail address (e.g., john@example.com).
    3. Password: Enter your password.
  5. Click the “Manually configure” checkbox and click next.
  6. Select internet email and click next 
  7. For your server information enter:
    1. For your Incoming mail server (POP3): type "mail" followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com)
    2. For your Outgoing mail server (SMTP): type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com)
  8. Click on the more settings button
  9. Click on the Outgoing Server tab and click on the My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box
  10. Click on the advanced tab and Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
  11. Click on ok to close the panel
  12. Click Next after making sure the information is correct.
  13. Click finish to end setting up your email

Microsoft Outlook 2007


This tutorial will take you through the step by step process of setting up your Network Solutions email with outlook 2007. If you would like to see a video step by step click here.

  1. With outlook 2007 open Click the tools menu and select account settings
  2. Make sure you are on the email tab and click new
  3. Make sure Microsoft Exchange, POP3, IMAP, or HTTP is selected and click next
  4. Click the “Manually configure” checkbox to bypass the auto configure and click next.
  5. Select internet email and click next
  6. Enter the following information: 
    1. Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From" field of your outgoing messages.
    2. Email Address: Enter your full mail address (e.g., john@example.com).
    3. For your server information enter:
    4. For your Incoming mail server (POP3): type "mail" followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com)
    5. For your Outgoing mail server (SMTP): type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com)
    6. User Name: Enter your full Network Solutions' Email Address.
    7. Password: Enter your password.
  7. Click on the more settings button
  8. Click on the Outgoing Server tab and click on the My Outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box
  9. Click on the advanced tab and Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
  10. Click on ok to close the panel
  11. Click Next after making sure the information is correct.
  12. Click finish to end setting up your email

Windows Live Mail

  1. With Windows live mail open click the add email account link
  2. Enter the following information:
  3. Email Address: Enter your full mail address (e.g., john@example.com).
  4. Password: Enter your password.
  5. Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From" field of your outgoing messages.
  6. Click the check mark box that says Manually configure server settings
  7. For your server information enter:
    1. For your Incoming mail server (POP3): type "mail" followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com)
    2. For your Outgoing mail server (SMTP): type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com)
  8. For your Login ID: enter your full Network Solutions' Email Address.
  9. Click on the check mark box for “Outgoing Server Requires Authentication” 
  10. Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
  11. Click next then finish to complete your email setup

Microsoft Outlook® 2003 and Outlook 2002/Outlook XP

  1. With Outlook 2003/2002 open From the Tools menu, select "Email Accounts." (If you do not see "Accounts," place your cursor over the two arrows at the bottom of the list to display more choices.)
  2. Select the radio button next to "Add a new email account" and click the "Next" button. 
  3. Select the radio button next to "POP3" and click the "Next" button.
  4. Enter the following information: 
    1. User Information
    2. Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From" field of your outgoing messages.
    3. Email Address: Enter your full mail address (e.g., john@example.com).
    4. Server Information
    5. For your Incoming mail server (POP3): type "mail" followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com)
  5. For your Outgoing mail server (SMTP): type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com)
  6. Login Information
  7. User Name: Enter your full Network Solutions' Email Address.
  8. Password: Enter your password.
  9. Do not check the box next to "Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)."
  10. Click the "More Settings" box and select the "Outgoing Server" tab.
  11. Check the box next to "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication."
  12. Click on the advanced tab and Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
  13. Click ok then finish to finish your email set up

Microsoft Outlook® 2000 and Outlook® 98

  1. With outlook 2000 or outlook 98 open From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
  2. Click the "Add" button.
  3. From the Add menu, click "Mail".
  4. In the Display Name box, type your name as you would like it to appear when you send a message, and then click "Next".
  5. In the E-Mail Address text box, enter your email address (e.g. john@example.com), and then click "Next".
  6. In the box labeled "My incoming mail server is a..." select "POP3" server.
  7. For your server information enter:
  8. Type "mail." followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com) in the Incoming Mail Server box.
  9. Type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com) in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box. 
  10. Click "Next".
  11. In the Account Name box, enter your full email address (e.g., john@example.com).
  12. In the Password box, enter your password.
  13. Do not check "Log On Using Secure Password Authentication (SPA)."
  14. Click "Next".
  15. Choose the appropriate connection type under the "Which Method Do You Use to Connect to the Internet" heading
  16. If you chose "Connect using my phone line," you will need to select a dial-up connection in the Dial-up Connection Wizard and click "Next".
  17. Click "Finish."
  18. Select the Network Solutions' Mail account (e.g. mail.example.com) and click "Properties."
  19. Select the "Servers" tab.
Check the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication."
  20. Click on the advanced tab and Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
  21. Click ok then close to finish your email set up

  3. From the Add menu, click "Mail".
  4. In the text box labeled Display Name, type your name and click "Next".
  5. In the Email Address box, type your full email address (e.g., john@example.com).
  6. Select "POP3" to answer the question "My incoming mail server is a..."
  7. Type "mail." followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com) in the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) Server box.
  8. Type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com) in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box. 
  9. Click "Next"
  10. In the Account Name box, type your full email address (e.g., john@example.com).
  11. In the Password box, type your password.
  12. If you want Outlook® Express to remember your password, check the "Remember password" box.
  13. Do not check the "Log on using secure password" box.
  14. Click "Next"
  15. Click "Finish"
  16. Select the Network Solutions' Mail account (e.g. mail.example.com) and click "Properties."
  17. Select the "Servers" tab.
Check the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication."
  18. Click on the advanced tab and Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
  19. Click ok then close to finish your email set up

Eudora 7.x

  1. With Eudora 7 open Click on the "File" menu and select "New” and select “Mail Account”
  2. Your Name: Enter your name as you want it to appear on the "From" line of your outgoing email.
  3. Email Address: Enter your full email address (e.g., john@example.com).

  5. Click Continue
  6. Enter the following information:
  7. Incoming Email Server: Type: "mail." followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com) and make sure that "POP" is selected at the bottom.
  8. Outgoing Email Server: Type: "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com) in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box.
  9. Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
  10. User Name: Enter your full Network Solutions' Email Address.
  11. Click the “Create Account” Icon
  12. Click the “tools” menu and select “account settings”
  13. With your email account selected  click on “outgoing server (smtp) and click edit
  14. Click the box for “Use secure authentication”
  15. Click ok, then ok again to finish setting up your account

Incredimail

  1. With incredimail open Click on the tools menu and click accounts
  2. Click the add button in the mail accounts screen
  3. Select “Let me configure settings myself” and click next
  4. Click on other
  5. Enter the following information:
    1. Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From" field of your outgoing messages.
    2. Email Address: Enter your full mail address (e.g., john@example.com).
    3. Password: Enter your password
  6. Click Next
  7. Enter the following information:
    1. For your Incoming mail server (POP3): type "mail" followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com)
    2. For your Outgoing mail server (SMTP): type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com)
  8. Click Next
  9. Click Ok
  10. Click on the tools menu and click email accounts
  11. In the mail accounts screen make sure your account is highlighted and click on the properties button
  12. Click on the servers tab
  13. Enter the following information:
  14. Username: Enter your full email address (e.g., john@example.com)
  15. Password: Enter your password.
  16. Click on the “My server requires authentication” check box 
  17. Click the more settings button
  18. Make sure the “Use same settings as my incoming mail server” is selected
  19. Click ok
  20. Click the advanced tab and Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
  21. On the email properties click ok and close to finish

Vista Mail

  1. Click the tools menu and select account
  2. On the next screen click the add button
  3. Select email account and click next
  4. Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From" field of your outgoing messages then click next
  5. Enter your full mail address (e.g., john@example.com) and click next
  6. Make sure Pop3 is selected then Enter the following information:
    1. For your Incoming mail server (POP3): type "mail" followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com)
    2. For your Outgoing mail server (SMTP): type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com)
  7. Click on the “My server requires authentication” check box and click next
    1. Enter the following information:
    2. Email User Name: Enter your full Network Solutions' Email Address.
    3. Password: Enter your password.
  8. Click Next  
  9. Check the “do not download my email and folders at this time” and then finish
  10. With your new email account highlighted click the properties button
  11. Click on the servers tab  
  12. Click on the “My server requires authentication” check box
  13. Click on the advanced tab and Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
  14. Click next then close to finish your email set up

Thunderbird 3

  7. Thunderbird will attempt to find your email setting automatically if it fails

    2. For your Incoming mail server (POP3): type "mail" followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com)
    3. For your Outgoing mail server (SMTP): type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com)
  9. Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
  10. Click the create account button to finish your email setup

  12. Click finish if all the information is correct
  13. Click on tools menu and click account settings
  14. Click on outgoing server and click edit
  15. Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
  16. Click ok then ok again
  17. Click on get mail and enter in your password to finish configuring your email account

  3. Make sure Email is selected and click next

    3. Organization: Enter your organization name
  5. Click Next
  6. Enter in:

    3. Make sure Regular email (POP) is selected then click next 
  7. Enter in:
    1. For your Incoming mail server (POP3): type "mail" followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com)

  8. Click the “use secure connection” box on the Outgoing Server
  9. Click finish button
  10. Click on the menu button and select mail and chat accounts
  11. Select the email account and click edit
  12. Click on the servers tab
  13. Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587

  15. Click Continue
  16. Do not click the SSL box and click continue
  17. For your Outgoing mail server (SMTP): type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com)
  18. Click on the use only this server bo
  19. Click the check box for Use Authentication box and enter in your user name and password
  20. Click Continue
  21. On the “Account Summary” screen make sure all information is correct and click continue
  22. On the accounts page click on your outgoing mail server and select Edit SMTP Server List
  23. Click on Advanced and click the radio button Use Custom Port and Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
  24. Click ok to finish your email setup

Microsoft Entourage (Mac)


This tutorial will take you through the step by step process of setting up your Network Solutions email with Entourage for Mac. If you would like to see a video step by step click here.

  1. With Entourage open From the TOOLS menu select ACCOUNTS settings, this will open the accounts window.
  2. Select NEW.
  3. The "Account Setup Assistant" will launch, enter your full email address in the box (ex. john@example.com). 
  4. Click the arrow in the lower right corner to proceed. 
  5. Entourage will try to configure automatically, if it fails, click the arrow in the lower right corner to proceed. 
  6. Enter the following information:
  7. Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From" field of your outgoing messages.
  8. Email Address: Enter your full mail address (e.g., john@example.com).
  9. Account ID: Enter your full Network Solutions' Email Address
  10. Password: Enter your password
  11. Make sure POP is selected and enter
  12. For your Incoming mail server (POP3): type "mail" followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com)
  13. For your Outgoing mail server (SMTP): type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com)
  14. Click the arrow in the lower right corner to proceed. 
  15. Click the arrow in the lower right corner to proceed. 
  16. Click on the skip button
  17. Enter in the name you would like for the account and click finish
  18. Make sure the account is selected and double click on the account
  19. In the sending mail section click on the advanced settings options
  20. Click on the checkbox for “SMTP service requires secure connection”
  21. Click on the checkbox for Override default SMTP port and Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 if you are with Verizon you should change your port to 587
  22. Click on the checkbox for SMTP server requires authentication and make sure the login is correct
  23. Click ok to finish setting up your email

iPhone

  1. On your iphone home screen tap the settings icon
  2. Tap on Mail, Contacts, Calendars
  3. Tap on Add Account
  4. Tap on Other
  5. Enter this information:

  7. Email Address: Enter your full mail address (e.g., john@example.com).
  8. Password: Enter your password.
  9. Enter in a description of this account
  10. Tap Save
  11. Tap POP tab
  12. Tap Incoming Mail Server

  15. User Name: Enter your full email address

  17. Scroll down and enter this information

  21. Tap Save
  22. If a screen comes up that says “Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL: Tap No
  23. Tap Save
  24. Tap Save
  25. Tap on your email account
  26. Tap on SMTP
  27. Tap on the Primary Server box
  28. Tap on the button with the Use SSL to turn it off
  29. Tap on the server port and Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587 
  30. Tap the SMTP tab in the upper left to go back
  31. Tap the name you have given the account tab in the upper left to go back
  32. Tap the advanced box
  33. Tap on the button with the Use SSL to turn it off
  34. Make sure the Server Port is 110, if not please enter it
  35. Tap the name you have given the account tab in the upper left to go back
  36. Tap the mail tab in the upper left corner to go back to you mail settings
  37. Push the home button to finish

  4. Tap on Other
  5. Tap Add mail account
  6. Enter this information:
  7. Your Name: Enter your name as you would like it to appear in the "From" field of your outgoing messages.
  8. Email Address: Enter your full mail address (e.g., john@example.com).
  9. Password: Enter your password.
  10. Enter in a description of this account
  11. Tap Save
  12. Tap POP tab
  13. Tap Incoming Mail Server
  14. Enter this information: 
  15. For your Incoming mail server (POP3): type "mail" followed by your domain name (e.g. mail.example.com)
  16. User Name: Enter your full email address
  17. Password: Enter your password
  18. Scroll down and enter this information
  19. For your Outgoing mail server (SMTP): type "smtp." followed by your domain name (e.g. smtp.example.com)
  20. User Name: Enter your full email address
  21. Password: Enter your password.
  22. Tap Save
  23. If a screen comes up that says “Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL: Tap no
  24. Tap Save
  25. Tap on your email account
  26. Tap on SMTP
  27. Tap on the button with the Use SSL to turn it off
  28. Tap on the server port and Change your outgoing server setting to 2525 or 587
  29. Tap on your email account tab in the upper left to go back
  30. Tap the Done button to go back to you mail settings
  31. Push the home button to finish
