Understanding Your Website Reports
Visits ReportThe Visits report tracks the number of visits that your website receives. A visit is defined as a sequence of consecutive page views without a 30-minute break. A visit always contains one or more page views. A unique visitor always performs at least one, but possibly more, visits. The beginning of a visit is captured when the user lands on your website. The end of a visit can be one of the following:
- A visitor follows a link from your site to another website.
- A visitor closes the browser without exiting your site.
- A visitor turns off the computer while browsing your site but does not close the browser.
- 30 minutes pass since any visitor activity on the site.
Use your Visits report to:
- Understand recent Internet traffic patterns to your website.
- Identify problems such as your site being down.
- Understand the impact of changes to the content of your website.
- Measure the number of visits against promotional events that you may be running.
