What is a Favicon?

A Favicon is the little icon that appears next to your bookmark in your favorites tab of the browser.  The Favicon also appears next to the URL of most web browsers.

Creating a Favicon

To create your favicon, you'll want to make an image exactly 16 by 16 pixels. There are some alternative larger sizes, but those require some special programs and formatting. Save this file as Favicon.ico.

Placement:

To add a favicon to your website;

• Copy your ico file into the Images directory or to the root site.  This can be done with the File Manager feature.

Every time a visitor bookmark your site with Explorer, favicon.ico is copied to the visitor's cache, where it waits to be displayed. You will not need to alter your HTML.
