There are many competing theories on this topic. Some suggest that journalists are looking for stories to write about at the beginning of the week and that you should always release on a Monday, while others reason that Monday is the busiest news day and brings the most competition.

If you release on Wednesday or Thursday, which are "slower" news days, you'll have more exposure. By Friday, journalists may already be working on their weekend assignments.
