What is the difference between Google® and Google® Maps?
Google® is a search engine. Google® Maps is an online directory of local businesses. If the user types a search term in Google using a local qualifier such as a zip code, local business results are returned. Users may choose to rely on Google Maps for local information. A search in this directory returns similar results with an additional advantage of business locations plotted on the map. Google Maps results are displayed prominently at the top of Google search engine results if local businesses are part of the search results.
