What is LOQMail ?
LOQMail is complete privacy in email communications. Everything in LOQMail is double-encrypted from keyboard to keyboard - your email addresses, the subject heading, the message itself and all attachments. LOQMail lets you meet all privacy requirements of the new compliance laws, and you don't have to learn anything new to use it.
Can I use my existing email address ?
You continue to use your existing (.com or .net) email address for standard email. To exchange LOQMail, which is completely safe and compliant, you must use your new private address (yourname@loqmail.secure ). These special private addresses allow us to provide much safer email protection and assure legal compliance. Your old email address and the new private address operate side-by-side - right within Outlook or most other email clients.
Can I use LOQMail alongside my regular email account ?
Once you have installed LOQMail, you will have two email accounts, the LOQMail account and your existing email account. When sending, all you have to do is choose the email address - your old standard email account or the new LOQMail account - from which you wish to send email and click on "Send." When receiving new email, the private email is automatically filed in your email folders.
Who can I send LOQMail to ?
LOQMail 2.0 gives you two ways to send secure and compliant messages. First, you are able to email and transfer files back and forth with other LOQMail users. Now with LOQMail 2.0, you can also send secure, compliant encrypted emails to public email addresses with any extension, such as .com, .net, .gov, .mil, or any other email address directly from your LOQMail account, at no additional charge.
How do non-LOQMail users get email messages I send them?
The first time you send an email to a non-LOQMail subscriber via your LOQMail account, the recipient will receive two separate emails. The first email will be a one-time free registration request and an automatically generated password. The second email will contain a link to a secure website (HTTPS) where they can retrieve your message.
Recipients only need to register once. So after the first time they are registered, subsequent messages will result in a single notification email with a secure URL to retrieve email you send. All emails will remain on the server for 30 days or until deleted by the recipient, whichever comes first.
What is the difference between a having LOQMail installed and getting a "read only" message?
For non-LOQMail subscribers, messages are received on a HTTPS website to be viewed and downloaded. These messages will appear as "read only". If they want to securely reply, they can upgrade to a full LOQMail subscription.
How can I invite other users ?
During installation, you will be prompted to invite others to become members. From the LOQMail tray icon, you can access a screen that helps you invite new LOQMail users. You provide names and addresses, and we send them an email with an invitation - it's that simple.
How do I encrypt files and exchange keys ?
Ease-of-use is one of LOQMail's big productivity advantages. You don't worry about encryption and other technical issues with LOQMail. We do it all for you behind the scenes.
How difficult is LOQMail to learn and use ?
Provided you are already an email user, no special skills are needed. The download is fast and easy. Installation and configuration are automated and require little intervention and only a few minutes of your time to learn. If you know how to useOutlook, you know how to use LOQMail.
Do I need any special hardware or software ?
All you need is a fairly up to date computer and a standard public email client, such as Outlook, Thunderbird or Mac Mail. No other equipment or software is needed.
What email programs are compatible with LOQMail?
LOQMail is compatible with POP3 email programs such as Outlook, Windows Mail, Mac Mail, and Thunderbird. If you do not have a POP3 email program we suggest Thunderbird which is FREE and easy to download.

Is there a size limit for content and attachments ?
LOQMail allows you to send larger emails and attachments than standard email. We don't set a limit on email size, but the recommend sending for LOQMail emails is no larger than 10 Megabytes.
What type of Internet connection do I need ?
LOQMail requires a broadband connection, such as DSL, cable, broadband wireless, or your company LAN to handle the larger size of encrypted messages. We don't recommend running LOQMail over a dial-up connection.
Can I install LOQMail on more than one computer?
Yes, the license with LOQMail allows for the installation on 2 computers.
How do I get compliance activity reports?
Creating a Compliance Activity Report is easy
- Right click on the LOQMail taskbar icon and select “Compliance Report”
- Log in to your LOQMail Account when prompted
- A complete Compliance Activity Report is generated. Export the file to your desired format.

- Prove adherence to the data-in-motion encrypted email requirements of HIPPA, GLBA, California SB-1386 and Sarbanes-Oxley.
- Enforce company private email usage policies to limit legal exposure from employees’ misuse of email to inappropriately transmit sensitive, personal and private information.

Do my spam and virus scanners work on LOQMail ?
LOQMail comes and goes on your computer just like standard email and is watched by all standard spam and virus scanning programs.
Can I create my own private web address ?
By upgrading from LOQMail to the LOQMail PRO version you can select your own unique web address. e.g., johndoe@yourcompanyname.private or johndoe@yourcompanyname.secure
Is LOQMail like a VPN ?
LOQMail is a generation beyond the VPN. Companies use VPNs to extend network security through the firewall to employees and remote locations. However, VPNs don't protect the 80% of business email traffic that goes to customers, partners, suppliers and others who don't have a behind-the-firewall relationship with a company.
