How does it work?
Simply send your receipts, business cards and paper documents to us via mail, email or mobile phone and we'll take care of the rest. At our secure processing facility, we will scan your documents, extract and human verify important data points, then organize and securely store everything in your online account. From there, you can access your documents anytime, anywhere, easily print and download copies of your documents, create and email expense reports, and export data to Excel, QuickBooks®, FreshBooks®, Outright.com, Outlook®, Address Book, Gmail® and other popular bookkeeping, tax preparation and contact management programs.

Shoeboxed is perfect for small businesses, entrepreneurs, sole proprietors, freelancers, business travelers, homemakers and anyone else that needs an easy, affordable way to organize and store paper clutter.
Can I trust Shoeboxed?
Privacy, security, reliability and honesty are the cornerstones of our service. Shoeboxed will never sell or disclose any information about you or your documents. We perform criminal background checks on all of our employees and closely monitor activity in our processing center. Our scanning and data entry specialists receive extensive privacy training and are required to sign non-disclosure agreements. We also use a highly sophisticated security system and surveillance cameras to protect your documents from outside threats.
How does Shoeboxed protect my data online?
Shoeboxed® uses the same security features that banks do to protect your information online. We use Secure Sockets Layering (SSL) technology to encrypt your data, making it almost impossible for third parties to intercept and understand information stored in your online account.
Will Shoeboxed return my documents?
With our Classic and Business plans, we automatically return your documents to you after processing, but we also offer a free shred-and-recycle option. Since Shoeboxed is accepted by the IRS and allows you to easily print a copy of any document stored in your account, there is really no need for you to hold onto the originals.
Can I create my own categories for expenses?
Shoeboxed uses the 15 most common IRS tax categories to organize your receipts, but you can easily create your own custom categories. After Shoeboxed uploads your expenses to your account, you can assign receipts to custom categories with just a few clicks. You can also create category rules for individual stores so that receipts from a certain store are automatically placed into a category of your choosing.
What mobile submission options does Shoeboxed offer?
Shoeboxed Mobile is free with all of our mail-in plans and can be used with any smartphone. This feature allows you to snap a picture of a receipt or business card with your phone, then email the image to us for processing. Our free iPhone® app for receipts works similarly, but goes one step further by allowing you to generate and email expense reports from your iPhone.
What happens to my data if I cancel my account?
You will always have immediate access to everything stored in your online account, even if you cancel. Shoeboxed will never delete data from your online account unless you explicitly request that we do so.
