.XXX Adult Industry (Sponsored Community) Domain Extension

 

When registering for a .XXX domain name, you will need to self-identify yourself as a member or non-member of the Sponsored Community. If you self-identify yourself as a member of the Sponsored Community (see .XXX Sponsored Community Definition below), you will be allowed to host a live website on a .XXX domain name. To become a member of the Sponsored Community you will be contacted after registering with Network Solutions to complete a Membership Application Process. If you self-identify yourself as a non-member of the Sponsored Community you will not need to participate in the Membership Application Process, and you will NOT be able to host a live website.

.XXX SPONSORED COMMUNITY DEFINITION:

Individuals, business, entities, and organizations that provide online, sexually-oriented adult entertainment ("Online Adult Entertainment") intended for consenting adults or for other community members ("Providers"); represent providers ("Representatives"); or provide products or services to Providers and Representatives ("Service Providers").

IFFOR:

The International Foundation for Online Responsibility (IFFOR) is a Non-Profit Foundation that is tasked with setting the policies for .XXX domains. The IFFOR is independent from the ICM registry and funded through a contract with ICM to the tune of $10 per registration, per year. The IFFOR Policy Council will comprise five Adult Industry representatives from around the world, with one member from ICM plus three advocates focused on: privacy and security; free speech; and child protection. The Adult Industry has majority representation. The policies guidelines are strictly organized in the IFFOR charter (available www.iffor.org) and no policy can be implemented that is outside the charter. Developed by the IFFOR, all .XXX registrants will be contractually obliged to follow a set of practices draw up to provide effective self-regulation of the Adult Industry (Sponsored Community). In particular they:

  • Safeguard children from being marketed or targeted online
  • Defend customer privacy
  • Use and promote accurate labeling and meta-tagging
  • Ensure clear and accurate disclosures, security of transactions and contact information
  • Protect intellectual property rights
  • Combat the use of unlawful malicious codes and technologies (e.g., spoofing)
  • Oppose fraudulent, anonymous and unsolicited bulk SPAM advertising adult entertainment

IFFOR will preserve the credibility of these practices through regular revisions and updates to accommodate developments in technologies and societal expectations.
