How to Change Your Outgoing Server Port in Microsoft Email Programs

Microsoft Outlook 2007
- On the Tools menu, click the Account Settings option.

- On the Advanced tab, find the section for Outgoing email (SMTP) port number.
- If the value is 25, then remove and enter the alternate port of 587.
- You may need to try both ports before you can successfully send emails.

- Open Outlook and go to File > Account Settings > Account Settings.
- Choose the email account you want to modify and click Change.
- Click More Settings and go to the Advanced tab.
- Locate the Outgoing server (SMTP) field and enter the new port number, making sure it's the correct one provided by your email provider.
- If the value is 25, then remove and enter the alternate port of 587.
- You may need to try both ports before you can successfully send emails.
- Click OK to save the changes, then Next to allow Outlook to test the new settings.
