Adding Mailbox Aliases
Learn how you can create and manage mailbox aliases. Here's how they work. You can create extra email addresses that collect all your messages in one inbox. For instance, if your main email is [email protected], you can make an alias like [email protected]. Any emails sent to this alias will go to your main inbox.
Setting up an alias helps you use your mailbox efficiently since you don't have to manage multiple email accounts. You can use as many aliases as possible and still receive the emails in one mailbox. It also protects your privacy since you don't need to give out your primary email address to receive emails. If the alias gets spammed or hacked, your primary email address will remain safe. Additionally, if you're concerned about your email address being sold to third-party companies, using an alias can help prevent this from happening.
Follow these instructions to add a mailbox alias.
- Log in to your account via
Account Login Links . - On the left side of the page, select Professional Email.
- On the Mailboxes tab, click the MANAGE button next to the mailbox to which you wish to add an alias.
- Click the ADD ALIAS button in the Aliases section to create an alias.
- Once the Add Alias window shows, enter the alias you want in the field provided.
To create an additional alias, click on + ADD ANOTHER ALIAS, and a new field will show. - Once done, click SAVE.
You have added an alias to your mailbox.
Deleting or Unassigning a Mailbox
Do you want to delete an unused or compromised mailbox? Or are you looking for free server space on the email server? Whatever your reason is, you should know that when deleting a mailbox, all attached emails, contact info, and other types of information will be permanently deleted from your account. Before you proceed, make sure you've backed up any important information and set up forwarding if needed.
Follow these instructions to remove a mailbox.
- Log in to your account via
Account Login Links . - On the left side of the page, click Professional Email.
- On the Mailboxes tab, click the vertical ellipsis on the right side of the mailbox you want to delete or unassign, then click Delete.
- Confirm the deletion by entering the complete email address in the field provided.
Your mailbox has been deleted. You will no longer have access to its contents.
