Ecommerce Online Store - Inventory - Bulk Related Products

This feature allows you to create rules that will relate products with one another in bulk. These rules can apply across products, categories, manufacturers, price levels, attributes and keywords. Once created, a global rule can be re-applied to new products as well as existing products.

How to Create a Bulk Related Product Rule

1. Click the Bulk Related Product button on the Inventory tab. This will open the Bulk Related Product manager.

2. Enter the name of your new rule and specify whether this rule will be enabled.

3. Click the Save button. This will open the rest of the Bulk Rule Editor.

4. Using the drop-down box you can select products by Keyword, Category, Manufacturer, Warehouse, or Attribute. The selected items will appear below.

5. Select the desired product Keyword, Category, Manufacturer, Warehouse or attribute by clicking in the selection box.

6. Once the desired products are chosen, click the arrow to move these selected products to the product list. Any products that are included in the selected product groupings on the left will be shown on the right.

7. Once the desired products to be included in this rule have been selected, scroll down to the Define Rules section.

Note: More than one bulk related product rule definition can be added to a rule.

8. Select the type of related product rule you would like to create from the drop-down list. This list includes: Keyword, Category, Manufacturer, Warehouse, and Attribute. This selection will then change the second drop-box to include all the items listed in the first type. For example, if you select Category, all of your categories will then be available for selection.

9. Select the specific grouping listed by Type. For example, if you chose "Type: Category", you would select a category from the list provided.

10. Specify the order in which the related products will appear on the product details page.

11. Select the Enable checkbox to make this rule enabled.

12. Click the Add New Rule button.

13. Once you've finished adding rules, click the Save or Save & Return buttons to return to the Bulk Related Products manager.

Using the images above as an example, the bulk related product rule "Winter Wear" would apply to the products found in the Women > Coats category and the Women > Accessories > Scarves category. The actual rule will add 3 items from the clothing category to each of the products as a related product. This means that all products in the Clothing category will have three randomly selected related products from the clothing category. This is accomplished with a single rule (as opposed to adding related products to each product in the category individually).
