Creating a Personalization Question
A Personalization Question is an option you add to your product that your customer may select to enhance their product. This personalization question doesn't effect the product's inventory but may enhance or slightly change the product itself. Each personalization question can have one or more answers and can be set as a required answer before the customer purchases the item. Personalization questions can be created individually for particular products or as a part of a template that can be applied or linked to several different products.
You can have up to a total of any combination of 750 personalization questions and answers (10 questions with 75 answers each, for example).
A Personalization Question is created in the Inventory > Products section. Simply click on the desired product, and click the Personalization tab.
How to Create a Personalization Question
To create a personalization question:
1. Enter the desired question into the Add Personalization Question field.
2. Select the Answer Input type.
3. Specify whether the personalization question is Required and/or Enabled.
4. Click the Create Question button.
Personalization Answers
There are several types of personalization answer input styles you can use for each personalization question.
- Radio Button or Drop Down: The customer can select one attribute from a list of options.
- Check box - Single: The customer can select the option. This can be used for simple Yes or No answers.
- Check box - Multiple: The customer can select multiple attributes from a list of options.
- Text - Single: The customer can enter one line of text. You may set a max character and line length and charge per character.
- Text - Multiple: The Customer can enter multiple lines of text. You may set a max character and line length and charge per character.
Radio & Drop Down Button
To enter your Radio Button or Drop Down answers:
- Enter your answer.
- Specify whether the answer will be enabled.
- Add a thumbnail image, if desired.
- Add a surcharge amount, if desired.
- Add a configuration code, if desired.
- Click the Add Answer button.
You can change the order of the personalization answers as they appear to your customers by click on the blue arrow. You can also select a specific answer to be the default answer that for the personalization question.
Text - Single
To setup your Text – Single Answer:
- Specify whether this answer will be required and/or enabled.
- Enter any applicable surcharge.
- Specify if there will be a per character charge.
- Specify the rows and characters allowed.
- Specify the maximum length.
- Specify a thumbnail image for this answer, if desired.
Text – Multiple
To setup your Text – Multiple Answer:
- Give the answer a text label.
- Specify if there is a surcharge.
- Specify the rows, characters, and max length for the answer.
- Specify an image for the answer.
- Specify if the answer is enabled.
- Specify a default message that will appear when the customer first sees the Personalization Question.
You can add multiple answers, each with different surcharges, rows, character limits and maximum lengths.
Check Box – Single
To setup your Check Box – Single Answer:
- Specify whether the item is required and/or enabled.
- Specify the surcharge for the item.
- Specify the configuration code for the item, if necessary.
- Specify a thumbnail image, if desired.
Check Box – Multiple
To setup your Check Box Multiple Answer:
- Enter your answer.
- Specify if the answer is enabled.
- Specify an image for the answer, if desired.
- Specify a surcharge and code for the answer, if necessary.
- Specify a default message that will appear when the customer first sees the Personalization Question.
- Enter as many answers as necessary.

Personalization Templates
A personalization template is a collection of personalization questions. Personalization templates may be linked to products (the products personalization questions will change when the "Master" personalization template changes) or they may be applied to products (the personalization questions are copied from the template to the product and may be changed at the product level without changing the original template).
How to Create a Personalization Template
1. Enter the name of your template in the New Template Name field, and click Create & Edit Template. This will open the Edit Template page.
2. Enter the question and select your answer type. The following answer types are available:
- Radio Button or Drop Down: The customer can select one attribute from a list of options.
- Check box – Single: The customer can select the option. This can be used for simple Yes or No answers.
- Check box – Multiple: The customer can select multiple attributes from a list of options.
- Text – Single: The customer can enter one line of text. You may set a max character and line length and charge per character
- Text – Multiple: The Customer can enter multiple lines of text. You may set a max character and line length and charge per character.
3. Set the answer as required, enabled, or both. Then click Create Question. This will open the Answers section for your new personalization question.
4. Each answer can have its own surcharge and thumbnail associated with it. You can also enable or disable certain answers if you wish them to be hidden from your customers and set certain answers as the default selection.
Once you are satisfied with your personalization questions and answers, click Save or Save & Return.
Linking a Personalization Template to a Product
You can link a personalization template to a number of products. A product linked to a personalization template will contain the personalization questions of the template. Any changes made to the master template will be reflected in all linked products.
To Link a Personalization Template, follow the steps below:
1. Click the checkmark next to the desired product.
2. Click the arrow button to move to product into the Linked status.
Applying a Personalization Template to a Product
Personalization templates can be applied to a product at the Product Edit > Personalization Tab. Applying a template to a product copies the template’s personalization questions to the product. These personalization questions can then be modified without changing the original template.
To apply a personalization template, simply select the desired template and click the Apply Template button.
