Ecommerce Online Store - Pages - Timed Content/Microblogging
Overview
Timed Content gives you the ability to create content modules and place them in most content areas of your site. These modules contain posts that can be set to publish and expire at certain dates, be active or inactive, and sorted based on their publish date. This function is found under the Pages tab, on the left side of the Control Panel.
Timed Content is organized into groups. Each group can have certain rules about displaying and hiding Timed Content. The location of the Timed Content group determines where all the content within the group will be displayed to the customer. Once this group is created you then create individual pieces of timed content for the group. These can then be set to display in a specific order. Once your timed content group and timed page contents have been setup, you insert the Timed Content nsScript into the desired Content Location (don't forget to turn OFF the WYSIWYG when inserting the nsSCript!).
Timed Content Groups
A timed content group is a collection of time content that is displayed in one place. The timed content that you create must belong to a specific group.
The Timed Page Content Group Manager displays the status of each group, the display type, the number of items in each group, and the nsScript code for the group. You can also edit individual groups, clone groups, or delete them. Deleting a group will delete all timed content located within the group.
How to Create a Timed Content Group
1. Enter the name of the desired group in the Add a New Timed Content Group text box.
2. Click the Create & Edit button.
3. This will open the Edit Timed Page Contents page.
Timed Page Content
The timed page content is entered into each group as a separate piece of content. You can enable each piece of content and specify how it will be displayed in the content group.
How to Add New Timed Content
1. Enter the name of the new timed content in the Add New Timed Content text box and click the Create button.
2. This will open the Edit Content Item page.
3. In the Edit Timed Content Page, you name your content item, enter the content that you wish to be displayed, specify a publish and expire date and time, and enable (or disable) this item of content. Once you are satisfied with your content, click the Save Changes button. This will save the new content item in your content group.
Inserting Timed Content Onto a Page or Content Area
The timed content can be placed in most content areas of your store, using the nsScript function. The nsScript refers to the Timed Content Group so make sure that your desired timed content is in the correct group.
How to Insert Timed Content Into a Content Area
1. Select any content area that can accept nsScript. In this case, we've created a new custom page called My Microblog (Pages > Custom Pages).
2. If you haven't already, switch the WYSIWYG to HTML. The nsSCript for timed content will not display in the WYSIWYG.
3. Click the nsScript dropdown and navigate to the timed content section.
4. Select your desired timed content group and click the Insert button to insert the script into the HTML page content.
5. Once you are finished with your changes, click the Save or Save & Return buttons.
