How Do I Get Started with Certified Offer Service® Plus?

Overview

Certified Offer Service® Plus is an easy, fast and secure service that lets individuals make anonymous offers to buy registered domain names ending in .com, .net, .org, .biz, .info, .us, and .us.com extensions. It is used for any offer over $25,000.

Please be guided with the steps below:

Step 1: Make an Offer

Determine an Offer Price

As mentioned, Certified Offer Service® Plus is used for any offer over $25,000. There is no maximum offer amount. To make a Certified Offer Service® Plus offer, you will be charged $69.00 per offer. This fee is non-refundable and is charged whether the offer is accepted or not. If the offer is accepted, you will be charged the accepted sales price plus a 5% transaction fee.

Offer is Verified

Our Network Solutions® Consultants will call the Buyer to discuss the offer amount and the negotiation strategy for acquiring the domain name.

Offer is Presented

On behalf of the Buyer, Network Solutions® presents the Certified Offer to the Seller via phone and email using the primary contact data available in WHOIS or any reliable information we can track down online.

14-Day Offer Response

The Buyer's offer is valid for 14 days, so Buyers can quickly determine whether the domain name is available for purchase. The Seller may respond at any time during this timeframe.

Important: When the current owner has decided to cancel receiving offers, the Certified Offer will automatically cancel and refund the service. When this happens, an automated email goes out indicating the order was canceled. In addition, you may send an email to [email protected] for updates and more information.

Step 2: Seller Responds to Offer Title

Seller's Option

The Seller has 14 days to respond to the Buyer's offer. The Seller can accept, reject, or propose a counteroffer price. If the Seller proposes a counteroffer, the Buyer can accept, reject, or make a counteroffer to the Seller within 14 days. The Seller then has 14 days to accept, reject or make one final counteroffer. The Buyer then has 14 days to accept or reject this final counteroffer from the Seller.

Step 3: Offer Acceptance and Transfer Process

Offer Acceptance

When the Seller accepts the Buyer's offer or counteroffer or when the Buyer accepts the Seller's minimum acceptable price, the Buyer will have to pay via wire transfer. All Certified Offer Service® Plus are paid via wire with no exceptions. Wire transfer instructions will be sent via email.

Note: Sellers are given the option of providing an acceptable minimum price at which they are willing to sell the domain name. You will be promptly notified of this price via email. If you accept it, the transfer process will be initiated, and your credit card will be charged for the final sale price, plus a 5% transaction fee.

The Transfer Process for the Buyer

After an offer is accepted and the funds are received, Network Solutions® will begin transferring the domain name into your Network Solutions® account. The transfer process may take up to 14 days to complete.

The Transfer Process When The Seller's Domain Name is Registered With Network Solutions®

  • The Seller should ensure the WHOIS information for the domain name is up to date so the check for the offer amount can be sent to the correct person or organization. The Seller has 3 business days after the date of sale to update the WHOIS information.
  • After Network Solutions® receives the funds from the Buyer, the domain name will be transferred to the Buyer. No other action is required.

When The Seller's Domain Name is Registered With Another Registrar

  • For funds to be sent to the appropriate individual or organization, the Seller has 3 business days after the date of sale to remove any type of WHOIS privacy service on the domain name.
  • The domain name registration must be in a currently paid status and have no other transfer restrictions.
  • The Seller should ensure the WHOIS information for the domain name is up to date. The Seller has 3 business days after the date of sale to update the WHOIS information.
  • The Seller should also remove any features preventing the domain name transfer, such as a domain lock feature.
  • To protect the Buyer's identity and until a Network Solutions® account can be established for the Buyer, Network Solutions® will initiate the transfer of the domain name into a holding account.

Note: For domains ending with the .us extension, Network Solutions® will contact the Seller who will need to complete a form to transfer these domains.

Buyer Receives the Domain Name

As part of the Certified Offer Service® Plus transfer process, the existing domain name registration term on the domain will transfer to you, and 1 free year is added to the end of the registration term as long as it does not exceed 10 years.

Seller is Paid

Network Solutions® will make payment via wire transfer to the domain name registrant (the Seller) listed in WHOIS. The payment is the offer amount minus the 5% fee. The Seller has 3 days from the date of sale to update the WHOIS information and remove any WHOIS privacy service. The Seller will be informed via email when the payment is sent out.
