How to Save Emails on Server Using Microsoft and Windows Email Programs

If you're using Microsoft or Windows email programs and want to ensure that your emails are always accessible across multiple devices, setting them to save emails on server is essential. This guide provides step-by-step instructions on configuring popular Microsoft email applications like Outlook Express, Outlook 2003, 2007, 2010, and Windows Live Mail. By following these instructions, you can maintain a backup of your emails on the server, allowing you to access them anytime, anywhere, and safeguard against data loss.

Follow these instructions to save emails on the server using the different Microsoft and Windows email programs:

Microsoft Outlook®Express

  1. Navigate to the Tools menu and select the Accounts option.

  2. In the Internet Accounts panel, click on the Mail tab.

  3. Choose the email account you want to modify by double-clicking it and then clicking Properties on the right.

  4. Under the Advanced tab, find and check the box labeled Leave a copy of the message on the Server.

Microsoft Outlook®2003

  1. Go to the Tools and then select E-mail Accounts.
  2. In the Email Accounts panel, choose View or change existing e-mail accounts and then click Next.
  3. Double-click the email account you want to adjust and select Change.
  4. On the Internet E-mail Settings page, click More Settings.
  5. Navigate to the Advanced tab on the More Settings page.
  6. Check the box labeled Leave a copy of the message on the Server.

Microsoft Outlook®2007

  1. Click Account Settings from the Tools menu.
  2. In the E-mail accounts panel, select the E-mail tab.
  3. Double-click on the account you need to modify, then click Change.
  4. On the Internet E-mail Settings page, proceed to More Settings.
  5. In the Advanced tab, check the box labeled Leave a copy of the message on the Server.

Additionally, you can configure options to remove mail from the server after a specified number of days or when it's deleted from the Deleted Items folder in Outlook. Following these instructions will keep a copy of your emails on the server, enhancing your access and management of messages.

Microsoft Outlook®2010

  1. Go to the File and then select Account Settings.

Windows®Live Mail

  1. Open the Tools menu and select Accounts.
  2. In the Internet Accounts panel, click the Mail tab.
  3. Double-click the email account you wish to modify and select Properties on the right.
  4. Go to the Advanced tab to tap the checkbox that says Leave a copy of the message on the Server.

With this configuration, Windows® Live Mail will now save emails on server, allowing for better email accessibility and backup.
