How Do I Manage My WHOIS Information in NameSecure?

Overview

WHOIS is a web record listing that identifies the owner of a domain and how to contact them. When logged into NameSecure, you have the option to update your WHOIS Information, which will be listed in WHOIS.

In this article, we will discuss:

Adding or Updating WHOIS Contacts

Your WHOIS Contacts are the contact persons for your domains who handle administrative and technical issues.

Follow these steps to add or update WHOIS contacts:

  1. Log in to your NameSecure account.
  2. Scroll down to Domain Services Management Center.
  3. Select a domain, then click the Modify/Update link.

  4. Go to WHOIS Info. You have the option to add or update WHOIS contacts by clicking any of the following links:
    Modify Whois contact links

    • Modify Registrant Contact – The Registrant Contact is the individual or organization with primary rights for the domain.
Note: Changing the registrant information means you are changing the official registrant of the domain. If there are listings for both an individual and an organization, the organization takes precedence. If you enter incorrect or misleading information, you will relinquish your rights to your control of the domain.
    • Modify Administrative Contact – The Administrative Contact is responsible for maintaining a domain and is authorized to interact with the registrar on behalf of the domain name Registrant.
    • Modify Technical Contact - The Technical Contact is the person or company responsible for all technical changes to a domain name (for example, maintaining the nameservers for the domain name).

  1. Once you have clicked on a link to modify a specific WHOIS contact, you will have the following options:

    • Add a New Contact or Select an Existing Contact – To add a new contact, click Add New, then hit Select. You can also choose an existing contact by clicking the drop-down box beside the Select button.
    • Enter New Contact information or Update Existing Contact Information – To add a new contact, enter their information in the required fields. To update an existing contact, edit the necessary fields.
    • When updating the Registrant Contact and Account Holder information, if you want your Organization Name to appear as the Registered Name Holder of your domain name, kindly check the Agree to RDDS Terms checkbox. This will indicate your consent for us to submit this to WHOIS/RDAP, and your organization's name will appear publicly.
      • Registrant Contact:
modify registrant contact information with RDDS checkbox
      • Account Holder:
