How to View Saved Passwords Stored in your Browser

This article explains how to retrieve saved passwords across the most popular platforms and browsers, including Google Chrome, Apple Safari, Microsoft Edge, Mozilla Firefox, and Opera. Depending on the device and browser you use, the steps may vary slightly, but in all cases you will need to verify your identity to view saved credentials. Use the section that matches your browser or device below to get started.

Tip: Most browsers have a built-in address you can type directly into the address bar to jump straight to your password manager. Each section below includes the address for that browser. Simply copy it, paste it into the address bar of the correct browser, and press Enter.

Google Chrome – Retrieving Saved Passwords

Google Chrome uses the Google Password Manager to store and manage saved credentials. You can access it directly inside Chrome or via the web at passwords.google.com. You will need to verify your identity (PIN or password) to view, edit, or copy specific saved credentials.

Quick Access: Open Google Chrome, copy the address below, paste it into the address bar, and press Enter to go directly to your saved passwords:

chrome://password-manager/passwords

Methods to Retrieve Saved Passwords:

  1. Via Web (Any Browser):
    • Go to passwords.google.com.
    • Sign in to your Google Account.
    • Click on the website you want to view, then click the eye icon to reveal the password.
  2. Via Chrome Desktop:
    • Open Chrome and click your profile icon in the top right.
    • Click the Passwords icon (key) or go to Settings > Autofill and passwords > Google Password Manager.
  3. Via Android/iOS Device:
    • Open the Chrome app.
    • Tap the three-dot menu (top right on Android, bottom right on iOS).
    • Select Settings > Password Manager.
  4. Via Google Account Settings:
    • Open your Google Account settings, navigate to the Security tab, and select Password Manager.

Apple Safari – Retrieving Saved Passwords

Apple devices manage saved passwords through the built-in Passwords app (newer devices) or through Settings (older devices). Passwords are stored in iCloud Keychain and sync automatically across all Apple devices signed in to the same Apple ID. You will need to authenticate with Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode to view saved credentials.

Note: Safari's password manager is tied to your Apple device and Apple ID — it cannot be accessed via a clickable browser link like other browsers. Follow the steps below for your specific device.

Accessing Passwords on iPhone/iPad:

  • Passwords App (newer iPhones): Open the Passwords app from your home screen and tap All. Authenticate with Face ID or Touch ID to see the list.
  • Older iPhones: Open the Settings app, scroll down, and tap Passwords. Authenticate to view your saved credentials.
  • Siri: Say, "Hey Siri, show my passwords."
  • Spotlight Search: Type "Passwords" into the Spotlight search bar on your home screen and tap the Passwords app result.
  • Shared Passwords: Within the Passwords app, you can view passwords that have been shared with trusted contacts.

Accessing Passwords on Mac:

  1. Open System Settings (macOS Ventura and later) or System Preferences (older macOS).
  2. Click on Passwords.
  3. Unlock using your Touch ID or your Mac user account password.
  4. Alternatively, open Safari > Settings (or Preferences) > Passwords tab.

Accessing Passwords on Windows:

If you use iCloud for Windows, you can access your Apple saved passwords through the iCloud Passwords app, available from the Microsoft Store.

Microsoft Edge – Retrieving Saved Passwords

Microsoft Edge has a built-in password manager that stores credentials locally on your device. To access it, click the three-dot menu (...) in the top right of Edge, select Settings, then choose Passwords and autofill > Microsoft Password Manager. Click the eye icon next to any saved password to reveal it — this will require your Windows PIN or device password for verification.

Quick Access: Open Microsoft Edge, copy the address below, paste it into the address bar, and press Enter to go directly to your saved passwords:

edge://settings/passwords

Steps to Access Saved Passwords in Edge:

  1. Open Settings: Click the three dots (...) in the top-right corner of Edge, then select Settings.

Mozilla Firefox – Retrieving Saved Passwords

Mozilla Firefox stores saved passwords in its built-in Password Manager, also called Firefox Lockwise. You can access it directly through Firefox's menu or by using the direct link below. Firefox may require you to enter a Primary Password if you have set one up — this is an optional master password that protects all your saved logins.

Quick Access: Open Mozilla Firefox, copy the address below, paste it into the address bar, and press Enter to go directly to your saved passwords:

about:logins

Steps to Access Saved Passwords in Firefox:

  5. Authenticate (if prompted): If you have a Primary Password set up, you will be required to enter it before your saved logins are displayed.
Note: Firefox also offers Firefox Sync, which lets you access your saved passwords across multiple devices by signing in to your Firefox account. Visit mozilla.org/firefox/sync to learn more.

Opera – Retrieving Saved Passwords

Opera is built on the same Chromium engine as Google Chrome, so its password manager works very similarly. Saved passwords are stored locally and can be accessed through Opera's settings. You will need your device PIN or password to reveal saved credentials.
